My Top 3 at the moment would be Pukki, Buendia, Arrons. As a couple have said above. Imagine with there wasn't such long injuries to Klose and Leitner. They would be in with a great shout. Remember first quarter of the Season where we thought Hernandez was going to be the star player?
In fairness he started like a man possessed and we didn't. Goals certainly help forwards grab the limelight and he certainly did excite. He has of course been very good too and it isn't just his goals, assists and general play, he makes space for others with his pace and directness. He can be a little snatchy in front of goal but he's a star like the rest of them, the star? no. But bloody good none the less. Bah!
Pukki must be on the radar of other clubs now. Be interesting to see what rumours surface depending on which league we're in next season. I'm resigned to losing Aarons regardless but got my fingers crossed we'll keep hold of Teemu and Leitner irrespective of the division we end up in next season.
With the team work and the camaraderie that appears to be within the team. I think we have a chance of holding onto Aarons for a season if we go up
I find it amusing that sources say Celtic should be prising Pukki away from us. Fat chance. I'm confident that if we go up he'll stay and possibly even if we don't. He's a team player, as are Buendia, Godfrey and Aarons. We're not desperate to sell and if they move, will they be playing every week? No. The Trybull/Tettey debate is an interesting one. MB is convinced that the former is the first choice now and his play has improved greatly with a run of games. He is more of a holding midfielder than DM, which Tettey is, as demonstrated by his ability to slot into a back three when necessary. Trybull's strength is to win the ball and keep it or pass it out to start attacks which suits our play now that Zimmerman and Godfrey have formed a solid partnership.
Amazing that we have 6 to the Blades 2 and even then it's a bit hard on Aarons, who had the same score as Lewis.
I fear there'll be several / numerous players who receive offers from (perceived) bigger clubs regardless of whether we go up or not. Another test of DF and SW's negotiating skills to convince them to stay - and repel all would be boarders
If we go up it would benefit both them and us for them to give us a year in the Premiership, if they can show the same form in the Premiership they would be nearer a starting place in a top team and we could get a better price for them
I still feel uncomfortable discussing "IF WE GO UP" with the money involved we could comfortably reward our players and give them first team football. "IF WE FAIL TO GO UP" Most would probably be sold to balance the books . 1 game at a time lads .
It would be quite nice if this season just never ended! I don't want to miss out on promotion, but equally we all know that being in the Premier League if you're outside the top ten or so is 90% thoroughly miserable and even if you survive for a few seasons, it feels inevitable that at some point you will get relegated. You only have to look at the bottom 14 in the Premier League to see that all bar Everton, Southampton and Leicester haven't been in the PL longer than three seasons and both Saints and Leicester went up in the last seven years, with Saints the longest (and quite possibly to be relegated this year...)
I also have mixed feelings about going up but it is the natural ambition to have. Like ZK and Rob say, we should enjoy the ride. We have already exceeded my ambitions for this season, but to play in the PL is what all the players want and I want that for them. I also feel that this squad would be better prepared for the PL with our style of play than any City team since the early 90s and we need promotion to keep our players, coach and staff here.
