Wasn't it Alioski that came off when Sacko came on? Someone earlier in this thread (Boggers?) mentioned TC giving Viera an easy start to the season after his International efforts over the summer. Hadn't thought of that myself & it makes perfect sense & good man management. Hopefully means he'll still be full of beans at the end of the season. Edit: It was Elland.
CBJ will slip into that left back role until Berardi gets back but he may be ok dor next weekend anyway. We have Pontus for Pennington & at worst he will be out for 2 weeks but again could b eok for next weekend. We are no worse than we were before today for defenders. Anita was great too today so no pressure. We played great first half when Phillips & O'Kane were both playing well, but 2nd half we never had both firing at the same time, both went missing for long periods. Cant see us calling for Tommy's head like many did last season with Monk. We played footy today in the first half
Things to look forward to: klich being the best DM in the championship will replace either Viera, Phillips or O'Kane Is Cooper captain even though he wont be playing every game or is it Pontus? Samu Saiz will be the best attacking midfielder in the championship & when he links up with Alioski wow. Chippy will call me a happy clappy but this is the most confident I've been since we bought Viduka
Very pleased with result and performance (particularly 1st half less so 2nd half). Obviously we'll face much stiffer challenges but we beat what was in front of us. Also glad injuries highlighted our weaknesses in defence so hopefully that will be sorted before window closes. Plus £16.50 in the bank off the back of a free bet so all in all a good afternoon.
Alioski looked Top drawer today and was unlucky not to bag a goal for himself Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Anita slotted straight into LB,good to have some quality in an emergency, think Pennington can be as good as Bartley was, lets hope its nothing serious. Well Mighty asked us all to be here, from 6pm Sunday and then he doesn't come out to play, how rude
It was me... Albeit it was Phil Phil Hay@PhilHayYEP 5h5 hours ago Vieira also missing. TC gave the impression on Friday that he was holding him back a little. Has had a very full summer with England etc.
The only disappointing thing from today's fantastic win is some of you decide to continue with the criticism of Sacko. He played only 7 mins plus stoppage time and gave 100%. Seems some are determined to get on his back right from the off and can't see that he is a work in progress.
Not read back but my two penneth. If you like your football harun scarum you are going to enjoy this season. We will score a lot of goals but we will concede at least as many. We passed the ball at a pace we havent seen in years, the off the ball movement was excelkent. But the defending from everyone was very poor. We are a new team and it showed. The geeman keeper was crap, but so was Green in his first proper game. Needs to come and catch, he was a spectacular at crossees on occasion. Ayling was Ayling and my mom. KP will get the plaudits for the goals but he just doesnt inspire confidence in the middle of the park. Wood fluked another goal off the woodwork.
Totally agree about the speed at which we passed the ball and also the angles we made to open up space. To me that was the most impressive thing.
As you might expect, think you are totally wrong about the defence, never looked like conceding a second goal,if it wasn't for the young lad not waiting for the game to end before swapping shirts.
They were flapping and without green and bartley nobody was taking charge. Bolton were hoofing it and at times it looked like blind panic in the back four. The first half was thrilling. The second was hide behind your hands at times. We should have buried them. We had all the ball and chances in the first half and the game should have been wrapped up.
Pennington before he went off,was winning nearly everything, think they said he won the ball 13 times more than any other player on the pitch,we won nearly every ball in the box, which is where it counts and don't remember our keeper having to make a serious save.Checked the stats and write up just to be sure and the good old Beeb agrees with me. Bolton, promoted from League One in May, were direct throughout but struggled to create anything clear-cut from open play
Agreed...but under the circumstances I think we did well. Their centre forward, a real old school type was a real handful. The worry is we'll face more of the same in the coming weeks as that will be perceived as our weakness.
