I remember Morgan playing in the Championship I always thought he was garbage, I was obviously wrong. Centre halves certainly get better with age. What I’d give for one with us now!
When he was with Forest and when he first joined us he was exactly what he was. Reasonably solid Championship defender and slightly over weight. Something clicked with Pearson and he became trimmer, stronger and much quicker. Nige basically turned him into a winner. Add that to his leadership qualities, reasonable defensive qualities and never-say-die attitude and it's no wonder he's gone on to have a very good Premier League career. Starting to slow down now and I think this will be his last full season. He'll be 34 in a few weeks time. No doubt he's been our greatest ever defender IMO.
I've never rated Morgan. Always had a big mistake in him and has the turning circle of an oil tanker. We've profited on more than one occasion due to his poor defending.
Well I've seen both play and I know who I'd like to call upon if my first choice was injured. I never thought Hamer did enough to warrant the back up place.
Amazes me when people still think he's slow. Not that Maguire is quick but Morgan is probably twice as fast as him.
please log in to view this image anyone who hangs around Ferdinand is a twat - and where's Morgan put his left hand
Thats cool, your opinion. I'll side with the Premier League managers though You can have Jak back tbh. Would sooner have Iversen as our 3rd choice. Doesn't make sense having a 33 year old as our 3rd choice, better to give opportunities to youth.
So slow he's practically static. I've seen us play against him quite a few times at Forest and against you. I've not seen him have a decent game yet. Admittedly that's based on less than a dozen games, but still.
How many times has he played you since Pearson really got hold of him? 4? 2 clean sheets, 2 wins a draw and a loss (that pathetic display last season). One of the other games we conceded in was totally Simpson's fault too.
I'd take him back in an instant, the bloke genuinely cared. He was never going to turn down whatever you offered him, but he got the team going and embodied the spirit of the squad.
These threads are lost in me. A perfectly non political one was shut down and now this thread has turned into Maguire v. Morgan debate.
I didn't bother explaining it, as I'd already tidied and reopened it while everyone was still moaning about it. I was busy, didn't have time to go through it and see what the objection was, so I closed it until I could. It turned out that the objection was nothing more than a baseless swipe at the mods, I tidied it to avoid any further whining (though it wasn't really necessary) and I reopened it.
I liked him to be was obviously happy to just go and sit on the bench rather than play I'm not saying he should have stayed with us but he could have been first choice somewhere else
