Funny? Understatement of the year. Hilarity is far nearer the truth. Seeing Sewer Rat in tears & Stevie me trying to push the cameras away. And there was me thinking he normally kisses them
The point that's always missed with all this "will they do a Spurs" stuff is that your Suarezs, Bales and Ronaldos are years in the making. Liverpool fans will come up with a plethora of tenuous reasons as to why they can do better than us at replacing their top talent but it simply won't happen unless someone at the club can really step it up. Look at Suarez, he was bought as one of Torres' replacement yet averaged 1 in 3 for his first season and a half. That means it took all that time for them to truly replace Torres, despite him clearly being a top talent(with hindsight). Players like Drogba, Suarez, Ronaldo, Van Persie, etc have all taken time to reach their potential. Ozil came to the league as the best number 10 in the World and look how he did. Some things money can't replace so it will very likely take more than a season for their new signings to show their worth, if indeed any of them do have the potential to become one of the top players in the league. When United lost Ronaldo, Rooney stepped up in the short term and they had one of the greatest managers of all time. Liverpool don't have a Rooney to step up and they certainly don't have a manager of the same level of SAF. When we lost Modric and VDV we replaced them with talented players but they never reached the kind of influence and it was Bale that stepped up, but we didn't have the manager to take full advantage of it so we stayed at roughly the same level. Once Bale left we didn't have the players with the talent to take us forward so we bought them in and, in hindsight, that was never going to reap immediate rewards. If you look at Suarez's scoring record, it tends to be against the weaker teams and with the rotation and extra workload of the CL I think that's going to be the major difference for Liverpool this season. No matter how good they are on their day, I can't see them having the kind of consistency to get into the top 4 unless another side really underachieves. I certainly don't see Liverpool being able to compete for the title like last season.
Agree with all of that yid. They're going to have a tough season IMO, I just cant see how they'll get over his goals against the Norwichs etc. Against the big boys they hardly had the best record either 5th for them with utd sneaking past them for 4th
This Don't like to admit it, as I used to hate Liverpool, but I have grown rather fond of some of the Pool fans on here, they are a good bunch. Namely Gonzo, RHC, Milk etc But I just cannot see how they will keep up last seasons efforts. Suarez is one of those players that makes a team. Just like Ronaldo, or Henry etc Losing him is catastrophic, and they really have gone for quantity over quality in their signings. None of them (bar Markovic) look to be the players to take Liverpool to that next step, and especially up front, where Sturridge will now be expected to be the main man. If he gets injured they are in big trouble too, Rickie Lambert is going to get 20 goals in a season, even if played regularly. I predict a 5th place finish for them
