Yes, it's on the Andy Partridge album "Fuzzy Warbles Volume 6", from 2004, the track called "In My Hand".

Bristol City have taken on the Tranmere mantle and then some. At least we could beat Tranmere at home! 3 visits and 3 defeats at Prenton Park is our record including the infamous 4-3. From Prem days Everton seemed to beat us more times than I liked, especially as seemed to beat Liverpool on a regular basis. Until their promotion season, Wolves didn't get much from us.

Blimey, we don't half rattle through some threads on this forum. Found this thread on page 5..!

Thanks Chilco, for that info. All my XTC albums are just from the band and from their altar egos, The Dukes of Stratosphear. I have meant to get into Andy's Fuzzy Warbles volumes, in recent years, but taking up the guitar and playing it for myself took precedence. After two years of fumbling around, I'm still totally rubbish [no aptitude for it, I think], but I'm still bumbling along. I played Skylarking earlier this evening. Always a joy. Might give the odd Fuzzy Warbles volume a go if I can find one on Spotify. I'll try to check out that song too.

Got to be Everton - I still shake at the mention of them. Even when we were up against them, they seemed to come back and beat us. Strange that some teams seem to have no problems at all against them, they just seem to roll over.

Had Skylarking on last night myself - one of my favourite five records of all time. Not many bands around who would "rhyme" 'grass' with 'ice cream cone'. Love that Dukes of Stratosfear record too. Wonder if Nigel's a fan (of XTC)? Looks very much like he could be - they did have a middle-manager element to their fanbase. Can see Nigel humming along in his company Sierra.

Agreed Everton were our bogey side while we were in the top flight.

Thanks for the reminder, just watched a vid of Skylarking on You Tube, brilliant. There is a football theme going through some of XTC's songs ("And all the world is football-shaped" from "Senses Working Overtime" for example). Even if Nigel doesn't like XTC, you've put the idea in my head now, and I will always think of him as a fan!

  12. That FA Cup semi against Everton in 1984 will never be forgotten... probably started the curse.

There isn't a matchday chant based on 'Making Plans for Nigel' is there, by any chance? I've never heard one down at SMS. Should be...

See that there's a thread dedicated to favourite bands - might be where all the discussion has shuffled off to!

I half heard Lineker making some joke about bogey teams and 'flicking them' on MOTD. I was appalled...cynically it will only encourage youngsters to go out and buy his 'Late, Live and Raw - Extra' DVD which is out next week, available £14.99
