A bit behind everyone else but I finally got around to watch Bobby Robson More Than a Manager(very apt title)
it was quite moving to follow his career on film and the accolades he received was amazing.

But what blew my mind and will stay with me for a long long time was Jose Mourinho`s quote. When asked to describe his feelings about Bobby he replied "A person never really dies until the last person who loved them has died" cue lump in throat and sharp intake of breath. Now I don't know if this is a famous quote but if its originated in Jose`s mouth then that is probably the best thing he has ever said

IMO Bobby was and still is the ultimate God of Football and if there is anyone out there who still haven't got around to watch it then do yourself a favour- and take a hankie

Lovely tribute film to a lovely man

It has often been said that you die - or that your soul is gone - when the last person mentions your name, or the last person with a memory of you dies, or when your legacy dies, or when physical remnants of your existence is gone.

But the way that Jose Mourinho puts it is as good and as heartfelt as anyone has ever put it in all those thousands of years.

I believe Gareth Southgate made decisions like sticking with Sterling for the tournament on the basis of some of the anecdotes in More Than A Manager. I'm sure Bobby still inspires millions upon millions of us to conduct ourselves in the right way.

What I didn't comprehend before I watched the film is that Bobby really had success over and over and over and over and over again, wherever he went. Never mind Barcelona - even getting Newcastle into the Champions League - that would just be unthinkable now.

You know Bobby used to live near Christchurch Park, just a street away from a friend's house, and I wish I'd had the guts and the wherewithal to go and knock on his door.

Haven't seen the film yet but looking forward to it.Loved a quote from SBR in the build up to last week's semi final. He said he left a wonderful job working for wonderful people to try to win the World Cup for his country.

I assume we still have provided the best 2 managers for England, Sir Bobby's team went to pens rather than losing in extra time ?

petty I know but you have to cling to something positive after the world cup <whistle>
