Jack Marriott short and stocky...ugly as mortal sin.....very impressed! Can’t make the starting line up on a regular basis. When did we last have a short, stocky, ugly and prolific attacker? Not lightweight in the Healey Mason style, we need someone thick set and full of spunk! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Plenty of examples of that type Masky - not necessarily stocky though.

Our very own Carl Dale in the past, with more recently Chopra and McCormack (until he got fat), with Dwight Gayle at more or less our level right up to date. If you want to go to the top end of the spectrum, Aguero and the two Silvas, David and Bernardo at Citeh aren't exactly 6' power houses but they can play a bit despite that.

Jack Marriot and Neal Maupay are both the same size and similar physique but have no problem scoring.

Given the chance AND playing in the right set up, Reid is a more than capable of matching them. He's a tryer, quick and alert, qualities we lack elswhere in the side.

He was bought for no reason at all by Warnock other than to fill the options bench. He never fitted the Warnock Plan A scenario that plagued our efforts last year.

Agreed Maupay and Marriott are similar heights to Reid although Marriott is much stockier.

Some other comparisons, Reid's goals per game record for us, 1 in every 5.4 games. For the Wurzels I in every 5.2, not that much better and if my memory is correct his strike rate tailed off in the second half of 17/18.

Season just ended comparisons are a little unfair as Maupay and Marriott played in the Championship where Marriott scored 7 goals in 33 games, one in every 4.7.

However, Maupay shows up much better with 37 goals in 85 games over 2 years. A strike record of 1 in every 2.3 games, albeit in the Championship. Nevertheless, quite exceptional in a team which had a poor to average last season. He has 2 years to go on his contract. His memories of CCS will not be good though having missed that absolute sitter against us in 2017. <doh>

Maupay is probably a 15m player and so out of our price range.

Marriott has to be a reason why hes not a regular starter with Derby.

The 2 key positions that need filling are central midfield.

Honestly think if we sign 2 quality players there that will be all we need to walk the division.

Yes agree to CM but an equal priority is a goal scoring CF.

Not sure anybody will walk the division though<whistle>
