That's him played in the late 50s and 60s for Leeds around the time we were after promotion from the second division
They were the up and coming team from the second division very tough and hard to beat.there were the for runner of the great Leeds team of the early 70s.the young players from the 70s team were just making there mark.
I remember the names mate, but don't remember that much about them, i was only young, yet their names are remembered, so they must ave been good.
Just how good was their team in 73, the team that lost a FA cup final?
there were the best team in the country at the time.in you had Man U and Liverpool,maybe a bit of arsenal but Leeds were up there with the best. A team full of internationals.everyone thought it was a walk over for Leeds.but they were so wrong.i was travelling all over the country watching Sunderland.only about a year or so before I had my season ticket.them days you had to have pink slips to get a ticket for wembley.even though I was in a crowd of about 17000 at roker park.i still never got enough pink slips.i was watching Sunderland where crowds were only 7000 to 8000 home and away and I never got to wemblely

Whenever I've seen reports of the Leeds team in 73, a few reporters have always used the same quote "the all conquering Leeds United"
I've always reckoned they must have been like Man Utd in 99/00.
that's them they were a very good strong and in some cases dirty side .hence the name dirty Leeds.
Leeds were so good it just makes the 73 result all the more unlikely, NO body outside of Sunderland gave us a snow ball in hells chance, thats how good our win was that day, I was there and will never forget it. In a way it was revenge time for Bobby Kerr as a couple of seasons before Norman Hunter broke his leg at Roker Park when Kerr was only 17 (I think). The tackle was one Hunter as a seasoned professional didn't have too make against a young lad who was overstretching himself for a ball he shouldn't have gone for and Hunter waited for him then did him in the tackle, Leeds were good those days bit had that nasty edge too them.

You would turn up to a match, pay in and be given a ticket - pink k, blue w, red a, etc, etc.
Then there was a draw. The more tickets you had, the better chance you had of winning the opportunity of buying a ticket for the next round.
This came into play for the semi's and the final, when all the fans who weren't there for the 3rd and 4th rounds suddenly remembered they were fansof a great team. Attendances went from 8,000 to 12,000 to 30,000 to capacity very quickly on that cup run!

exactly that's what happened and as I said I was there with the 7 and8 thousand and if you remember during the cup run we were still having the same gates.but no ticket for me . I may add those gates were for the league games not as you say the cup games when the crowd rose quickly
I still have a couple of those "lottery tickets" as momento's - they did me no good!
Still. We won it Vince, wether we could get or not. I remember games v Huddersfield, Bristol, etc etc when there was hardly anyone there....
