No surprise. When he publicly dug out Ben Haim it was a sure sign he was on the slippery slope. I'm listening to Charlton Live and a caller is asking for Curbs back. We all know Curbs would never work under Roland's conditions. I'll be amazed if the next manager isn't Belgian, fingers crossed he's OK, anything could happen. Roland got lucky once with Riga, might get lucky again. Don't know anyone decent who would chuck in a good job to work for Roland.
That hit the nail on the head FHB. The managers coming calling for this job will all be unemployed ones.
Apparently Guy Luzon, former Liege boss is fave, if that's true, Tony Watt might as well go back because didn't he fall out with him?
We do have some very thick fans judging by the reaction on Twitter and on who any replacement should be. One said a player management mix of Kermorgant, Jackson and Andy Hughes (never Hughesy as that vindicates him as having had some sort of purpose). Although amongst some of the more rational Tweets a couple have mentioned that they don't feel anything either way by the news; that it will make no difference to their support. They then ruined the interesting point by putting no rationale behind their rational thinking and by mentioning Chris Powell.
It will be Guy Luzon, I would prefer Nigel Adkins, but Luzon will probably be announced tomorrow according to the Belgian press.
Looking at this list I feel very old. I have watched Charlton under all these managers save the first four (and Peacock). Theo Foley was in charge the first time I was there. Don't remember too much about him, but it was a long time ago.
Almost pointless having a wish list, as the next manager will be yet another Belgian patsy, who RD grows bored with after a dozen games. We are now a franchise, less a football club, more a Belgian flea circus. I will be at Watford on Saturday but supporting the Club I grew up with, not this current abortion of a Frankensteins Monster.
We're becoming the footballing equivalent of Guns N Roses. Hardly any of the original members but they're still the Guns N Roses we all once loved somewhere underneath. Even if Axl Rose can't breath a note for longer than 4 seconds now/Jackson can't run at all now.
Read somewhere over the past two days that Tony Watt credited Luzon's coaching methods with improving him as a footballer. Now, I'm not too sure how to take that but at least it's out there.
