Bit more information about when he was watching the game last weekend and his thoughts on KLD. Apologies in advance on from where the article has come from. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...and-louis-dreyfus-murray-club-new-owner-fans/
Divisive character imo. The SoL, FoL and AoL are an amazing legacy to have created but as a young sprog in the Fulwell end towards the end of its era there were loads of 'sack the board' chants, sit in protests to get rid of him etc. Murray Murray Murray...Out Out Out was the cry irrc. And it wasn't from a minority of supporters either.
You're spot on mate but I think time has been kind to him since he left the club. In my opinion, he was part of the old school breed for owning a football club - a local businessman with the club at heart but with the beginning of the Premier League and all the money that came with it, he was left behind. He had a great chance to add to the team when we were second under Reid as well as when we finished 7th twice and only he can say why significant money wasn't given and we missed the boat big style. But like you said, without him we wouldn't have the SOL and AOL - infrastructure that other teams would die for and put it into place (like the training ground) well before other teams did and at a fraction of what it would cost now.
He didn't have the cash to compete. Linked with Scholes iirc but obviously it didn't happen. I think Reid mentioned about the lack of investment. We can't argue with the physical infrastructure he has left but he didn't have the cash to get us into the elite group. He comes across as a tad bitter these days imo
Didnt he still have his insurance business? Our current owner doee seem a 1 business guy which I think is uncommon and a positive.
