I'd rather we stayed up regardless! I'd take a season of negativity (were Bolton negative with Sam in charge btw?) and premier league survival to get us to that elusive "safe by March" next level!!

Now is not the time to be experimenting with managers that have little or no experience of managing a premier league team. Like the rest of you, I've been reading a lot of different websites and newspaper speculation surrounding our search for a new manager, but what I have found interesting, is the various aspirations of my fellow fans.
Some are happy for us to go down, as long as they believe that we have the right manager to bring us back up again, free of the dead wood we currently have in our squad.
Others want a manager that will bring us success in the form of a cup win, or getting into Europe.
I can't argue with either, but what is most important to me, is to see the club stabilised from top to bottom, starting with the appointment of an experienced safe pair of hands manager. We can all point the finger at the chairman and owner, Congerton, previous managerial appointments, the CE or the tea lady, but at the end of the day, it's the team that is the heart of the club and that is the most important aspect of our club.
So who best to influence and motivate the team? We can say the fans, we can say the chairman with a motivational speech or a bonus payment for performance, but most important of all is the manager, a manager who can influence and motivate, who is a good tactician and makes the best use of the players available to him. Add to that list a man who can influence the board in a positive way and we have our man!
My vote goes to Mike Bassett!

If it is Bob Bradley or any other inexperienced premiership manager I can just imagine them coming into work and going "right, I could do with picking the brains of the captain or some experienced 'pro's'" the going to O' Shea, Cattermole, Fletcher etc etc etc and the same cycle of sh!t goes on again and again and again...........
Aye, possibly, but he is a very experienced at man management and would quickly spot the shirkers, journeymen and the like we have at the club. He also has quite an impressive win ratio with most of the clubs he has managed. Would it mean the return of Altidore as well.......
He has next to no experience of managing a team in a league setup with a relegation/promotion format. Never mind coming to a club deeply embroiled in a relegation battle.
If we're talking international managers with an eye for youth, it just has to be Jose Pekerman. He was the Argentine youth coach who turned down the top job repeatedly until his players were coming up towards 22, and then took it. He promoted a bunch of kids like Messi, Tevez, and Cambiasso into the full international squad. He's now head coach of Colombia.
I read that as "I'm going to get all these kids into the first team then **** off somewhere else" or "I promoted Coloccini and ended up a Colombia"
I'm not even gonna judge or predict the outcome of any manager who we are linked to. The past 4 managers I have been content with, happy about or somewhere in between. They have all ended in disaster (not always the managers fault obviously). Maybe we should just get somebody who none of us will be happy about. They cant do much worse with the hand that they (and the previous managers) are dealt with, we may even get a surprise and finish 17th.
Im with QQB on this one, the next manager will need our support, but more pointedly he will need the players respect, even then it looks a tough assignment, good luck to anyone who takes it on, they will need it.
