Subbuteo - our stadium in the garage became known as The Graveyard because my bro stamped on so many players after I beat him. There was a lad round the corner, and I **** you not he grew his index finger nail and varnished it to **** for extra flicking power. I love reminding him that he used to walk around happily with one big nail when younger. World Cup Cricket - that feeling when the ball went in between a fielders legs when bowling. Incredible game really. Cluedo - classic love it Monopoly - classic love it Game of Life - classic love it Risk - classic love it And of course Snakes and Ladders! Anyone recall the game Pandemic from a few years ago...should be making a big comeback right now
Can somebody put this **** down for sacrilege comments please Subbuteo was an awesome game. Had to be fast paced though or it just got boring.
It never got fast paced though, it was just 3 flicks each and watch the ridiculously cumbersome ball with a mind of its own do whatever it wanted. Not only was it dull as ****, it was also nothing like football. Table football was fun cos it was fast and frantic, Subutteo was a yawn fest, the only fun thing was collecting all the different bits, which made it more like Hornby railways than football.
The artificial pitch was the best thing about subbuteo. Like a carpet. Building the stadium and painting the figures was good too. Hated playing it though. Stratego. A forgotten classic.
Had one of them but so long ago I can’t remember which. Think at a push it was Nightmare. Absolutely useless.
I think mine was atmosphere... The advert looked tremendous and the concept seemed so appealing, but like you say the game was turd
Anyone remember Super Cluedo Challenge? You got more characters like Mr Slate-Grey, more weapons like the blunderbuss and things like the orb and the bird table in the garden. It was bangin, never went back to original Cluedo after that. And any old farts remember Totopoly? We had a modern version of it, it was bitchin.
I'm sure the fat **** down the road had this game. Was this the one where you upgraded your ship, and if your ship got shot down you were on a raft?
You were just doing it all wrong then. Ours was fast paced. I even played in a tournament at the Metrocentre. Got all the way to final and got beat 3-1. Kid was playing so fast I couldn't see the ball. He also had one of these elongated nails hardened with varnish. Wasn't the same that I had to act all sporting and shake his hand. Rather than clearing the board Monopoly style and stamping on the players for being ****. I clearly didn't have the right commitment or I'd have had one girly/deformed nail too. And @the #Cans Master is right too, 'pushers' were a disgrace. Lowest of the low.
More from my youth: Hero Quest - now this ****in rocked, simple enough to attract players outside of Games Worshop geeks, killer monster and magic hack n slash, the sequel Advanced Heroquest was geeks only though. Hotel - absolutely loved this game when I was younger, not sure how it would stack up now, but I'd love to play it again Escape From Atlantic - get all your people off the disintegrating island whilst dodgy sea monsters and sharks. Not that great.
Did the organisers not penalise him for that? Surely it's like super gluing your conker or putting rocks in your boxing glove? But surely you can stop it being fast paced by taking your time with your turn?
