Are you a passholder, Airlie? Who are the ones who have supported the club during the cup run who deserve a ticket the most anyway? The ones at Wembley, many of them wives, girlfriends and mates who haven't been to another match all season? The handful who were at Brighton, quite a few who were there as they are Southern based so there was little travelling. Are the southern based ones as deserving as the Northern based ones who travelled? On the other hand are any Southern based ones who travelled to the replay or Middlesbrough or the Sunderland game more deserving than Northern based ones? The fact is that the club, like all clubs, give priority to season pass holders. learn to live with it get a season pass to ensure you have priority if you don't have one or shut up about it. Think of fans of clubs like Arsenal, who, if they get to the final will have more seasonpass holders who won't get a ticket than we get as an average crowd. This whole ticket thing has shown the parochial, small town attitude that has held back the city and its football club for decades.
Cup Direct would have sorted this problem regards Season Ticket holders who do and don''t go to Cup games. I'm all for Season Pass holders getting priority for league games but CUP games? The season pass doesn't include cup games, therefore i don't believe (Unless they have attended) they should be given priority for FA Cup semi's and finals etc. It would be unfair if a non pass holder who attended every cup game, loses out to a pass holder going to their first FA Cup game because it's the final. You could argue people may not want to go to the final if we play Arsenal as we will probably lose. (Well maybe not the way they're playing atm)
Yes I have a season ticket not that its relevant. The fact is some people will miss out however tickets are allocated, there are lazy pass holders that don't deserve tickets over fans that have supported the cup run, there's also the wives/girlfriends/mates you've mentioned who don't deserve tickets over pass holders that genuinely couldn't make the earlier games. Some will get tickets, some won't. People will have opinions on how they should be allocated (presumably preferring the method that's most likely to get them a ticket), but like you say its all academic because pass holders will get priority. I think your last sentence might be a little dramatic though.
You want to hope we don't end up playing Wigan in the final. Gollum and the eggchasers will be forever informing is it didn't attract as many as the FC v Wigan Challenge Cup Final.
They've only sold 15,000 for a Semi final against Arsenal. Makes us selling 27,000 look good! Have Arsenal sold out? I know Blades have 1,000 left but took an increased allocation, but even thought they're league one they have a pretty big fanbase, but their home attendances aren't too good! Plus they've only won once in eight appearences at Wembley and that was around the same time we was last in a semi final i think.
Pissing contests over who has the best fans, or which individual fans are the most 'diehard' are so boring and irrelevant.
Actually 15,000 sold with a population of 97,000 is more impressive than 27,000 from a population of 256,000. Also our fans are (rightly) complaining about how little time there is to catch the last train back. Wigan fans have less time, there last train is 30 minutes later than ours but their kick off is an hour later so they have half an hour less than us.
Tickets for the final should be sold in the following order, any disagreements & you go below circa (who's officially been placed last in the queue) in the pecking order. Obviously if HullCity AFC knocks on my door & I end up 6 feet under my ticket will be given to the next in line. 1. Me 2. Me lad 3. Hats 4. Chaz 5. Kemps 6. Stan 7. Febbos 8. Umer in Pakistan 9. Filey 10. Sort the rest out amongst yourselves.
Sheffield Utd fans are like we were back in 2008. It has been ages since they had any glory. Agreed ^^^^ this. But those who are will be in for a shock if we do make the Final. see below. Could not have put it better myself. Spot on.
Had a quick flick through the comments posted to date and can't say I've seen one recognising that some people might actually be skint, regardless of how passionate they may or may no be. Just saying!
When we sold 38,000 in 2008, the city had endured a terrible years since the floods of 2007. People living in caravans, with relatives, in rented accomodation and many living in financial limbo. This being Hull, there was a recession then as well. So how come we can't shift the tickets this time round??? (I think they are actually cheaper?) Is there not a recession in Sheffield, live tv coverage there and they have many more Wembley apps than us. Undoubtedly the current owners have driven people away with their obnoxious bullying style and utter inability to market the club, but most fans would see past that and get their tickets regardless. I don't buy the 'saving my wad for the Final' angle either, as there will not be any spare ones to be had (should we get there) for the type of people who feel blase enough to blithely let our second appearance in 110 years sail by. I'd love to blame the Allams 100% for this lack of Cup passion, but ultimately the buck stops with the fans- and the absent lazy ones should take a large chunk of blame too.
Haha love it! I actually find you to have a good sense of humor, I think we'll get along just fine How about I bring a crate of Cheshire's finest wine and an Indian meal for two from Morrisons instead of a spade, top soil and rope?
To be honest, it's embarrassing that we've struggled to sell many more than that. You're competing for fans with Man United, Man City, Liverpool and Everton, and had a Semi against a small club with whom you have no rivalry of any kind. 22,000 is commendable. We're the only top-flight club in Yorkshire, have the entire East Riding and much of the North Riding from which to draw support and have our semi-final against another Yorkshire club who we have had more than a few 'battles' with over the years. That we easily sold the better part of 40,000 tickets for our play-off final suggest the complacency of people thinking they'll get a ticket for the final is (to an extent) a problem. But I'm still ashamed.
Wigan vs Hull 2013 had 78,137, St Helens vs Hull in 2008 had 84,241 and Hull vs Leeds in 2005 at Millennium Stadium had 74,213. The Play Off Final in 2008 had 86,703.
And Wigan v Hull in 1985 had 99,801 the highest ever crowd for a RL final at Wembley. Which is the one Gollum and others will refer to.
