100 year wait to get to a major final and ball boy allegedly kicked by chelsea player Hazard grab the headlines. Hopefully this can be reported appropriately and with some perspective. As a Swans fan I see our ball boys doing a good job . There is precedent and players cannot act in such a way.Hazard lost it really. If there are tweets from the ballboy hinting at time wasting it's wrong and if the ballboy has done this he's hopefully learned his lesson and has wised up. Back to the plot and good luck Swans , an imperious effort over the two legs. Having beaten Liverpool and Chelsea away en route to Wembley we will hopefully go on and win this cup now. Special mention to Chelsea fans who got to the ground on wed night too. The snowy January weather was extreme and it was great to see the fans join in making another special Liberty night. So let's see some reason and measure over this. The powerful media can help and bring so much colour and positivity. Yet we are seeing some media madness again this week. We are seeing some startling radio & press journalism this week. Many balanced and commensurate debates have hit the airwaves and the newsagents . But it doesn't quite equate when one week a newpaper refers to Swans manager Michael as (brother )Brian Laudrup and offers a pretty sparse and badly researched review of all things Swansea but the next week manages four full pages on a Swansea ballboy's twitter activity and alleged time wasting.
The Daily Mail is truly the worst form of "journalism" if you can call it that. They have published private photos taken from this ball-boys twitter account and are now clearly launching a witch hunt against the lad. I implore you ALL to never buy the sh1tty paper and don't visit their website, it's the only way of stopping this kind of sh1t being reported as news. In case you needed further convincing I encourage you to watch this video: It is quite funny, but at the same time 20mins of quite shocking details....
Actually his boot didn't make contact with the ball. His foot was off the ground and the toe of his boot went directly into the kid's ribs.
I believe the gerneral view on here is that the kid did wrong and some made reference to his father should give at the very least a good bollocking but now theres a definate witch hunt against C Morgan , about to start is a phone in debate on BBC radio 2, FFS is that we pay the licence fee for ,I just sent them an email ( makes me sound like Mr angry from surrey I know ) asking what's the purpose of the topic ? this to a target audience who probably don't watch football and less knowledge of a what a ball boy does. Guess what, an automated reply .
you are spot on.. The minute he laid his hands on the ball boy was the minute he lost all credibility and no matter what the ball boy did or did not do is now irrelevant...hazard was wrong and should be punished...
Sorry but this young man (not a boy) has brought it on himself and I've no sympathy at all. He's set out to time waste. His tweets prove that. It was a game plan and as self-declared "King of the Ball Boys" AND the son of a Director he should have known better. Hazard shouldn't have got involved for sure but was trying to get the ball back. There may or may not have been contact - my best guess is that Hazard toe-poked the ball but slightly caught him in the ribs with his shin - but the kid rolling around as if he'd been shot was laughable. Both in the wrong. What's annoyed me is that this crap has detracted from our achievement and has put us as a Club in a bad light because the lad's tweet "Needed for time wasting" implies (even if it's untrue) he was under instruction from the Club. As Dragon said yesterday anyone who brings the name of our Club into disrepute shouldn't be backed by us as fans. How anyone can support the little git is beyond me. Hopefully he'll only be a spectator from now on and this will eventually blow over.
See what you did there Yankee....we had all moved on and were finally talking about other stuff...even if it was journalism in general on the basis of this story... doh! lol Knackared, Dai & boney - You'll just have to agree to disagree and move on, the sooner we do that, the better for the club, next time an opposition fan raises it we can laugh or give them a blank look and continue talking about something else. Only way this will die. PS. Boney - good on you mate, the BBC should show more class than to continue reporting on this complete non-story, I genuinely fear this will escalate the more kindling crappy journalists pour onto the story, there has been a few unwilling "stars" of the media recently who have had their lives ruined by irresponsible journalists. Say what you will about Charlie Morgan, but he just a 17 year old lad who is now having his character discussed on tv & radio, people that have never met him calling in to abuse him and his private holiday photos being plastered all over the press just to satisfy a horrible fascination the press and the public seem to get off on these days. It is truly sad and I hope it doesn't get to the boy.
Have you seen the video from the reverse angle, if the toe of his boot went directly into the kids ribs how come the ball pops out the other side, you can also see Hazard lifting the kid up first so he can get a kick at the ball. Im not defending him btw as it was a stupid thing to do and he deserved a red card, but some people on here seem to think that Hazard simply lashed out and kicked him on purpose when the video shows he was making an attempt to get the ball and ended up kicking the ball and the ball boy. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...otage-supports-Belgian-claim-kicked-ball.html
Spot on there Dai, I couldn't agree more. Can you imagine if a Swans fan ran onto the pitch and kicked Hazard in the ribs. That fan would never be allowed to a football match again and probably charged with assault. Only in football can a man assault a boy and be defended by the public
Well people are barking at the kid .... he was knocked down, landed on the ball, there were umpteen thousand people in the north stand and the north end of the east stand yelling, and the next thing he knows somebody puts the boot in. Regardless of what he tweeted, twated, whatever before the game, the whole thing happened in a moment so there is no way to know what the kid was intending to do - the kid didn't have a chance to delay the game and Tremmel was right there to retrieve the ball from him anyway - exactly how much delay would there have been. If the Chelsea player (I think it was Hazard) had shown a sliver of skill and not booted the ball off the field none of this would have happened. In fact he kicked the kid far more accurately than he kicked the ball. On another thread, people are now saying that it's gone over board with the FA - what the hell else can they do. The can't condone what the dolt did, he kicked another party, doesn't matter whether it is an official, a player, a coach, a spectator, a cop, a steward or a ball boy. As other's have said it is disappointing that our moment of triumph has been watered down by this one event. But people showing sympathy for the player is just ridiculous, there is no justification for Hazard's action, the kid was hurt.
At the time of the TV coverage, the reply that I saw zoomed in from the South Stand end, clearly showed the toe of Hazards boot going into the kid's ribs, nowhere near the ball. I didn't notice the ball "popping out" but if it did it wasn't from Hazards boot making contact with the ball, but indicates the size of the impact of the boot on the boy and how that momentum carried through.
