I appreciate it was only a friendly and there were plenty of changes during the game plus Shrewsbury had just beaten Wolves & Villa as well, and whilst it's disappointing to lose, it should have more positives than negatives as firstly NW will have spotted weaknesses and problem areas he can work on, seemingly in defence and stopping giving away penalties; and secondly he'll know which areas need strengthening. In that regard a striker to supplement Zahore in light of Saadi going appears a necessity. The jury is still out on Ward albeit its early days.
We needed to be beaten. Nothing wrong with a wake up call before the real business starts. I remember Ole taking the squad on a pre-season tour to Austria the one season he started with us. We played some really good stuff and beat practically everyone in sight except some Russian club who stuffed us. We learnt nothing from it, came back for the Championship season and Ole was gone after 8 games.
Here's WOL's commentary on last night. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/key-talking-points-lee-tomlin-13386223 Tomlin's photo raises a question. Did he eat all the pies? One more "testing" friendly to come. Home to Livingstone. Soz, forgot the link, now added.
They always say you learn more in defeat than in victory. Better to get it out of the way before the real stuff starts. Gives Colin the opportunity for a rant.
Blimey that's not a flattering photo -he should try a diet but not take any tips from Neville Southall.
