We talk a lot about this player coming in or not etc... and how they may improve the team. But what about Eddie? He has improved quite a few of our players so I feel we need to give him credit.. and trust that he sees potential to develop in a lot of our potential signings. For me it's about how the squad benefits, and what the future shape, style and standard of the group as a whole looks like.
He’s certainly earned the right to be given the benefit of any doubt for sure. All I’ll say is I see this forum as a silent and appropriate way of voicing concerns or issues. My concern as said elsewhere is if Eddie puts too much faith in average players to keep playing at the top of their game, what if it doesn’t work? What if they dip? Do the Saudis want a team of try bards? He knows best of course but it’s a minor concern. On the flip side, it’s fine margins. Those better players playing in the top two divisions have ability enough to make constant steps up. So who’s to say he can’t establish Longstaff or Willock as top class midfielders?
This is the thing mate. I agree to a degree. For now I think the Saudis are willing to let him drop one or two class players in but focus on developing the squad.. and youth team. Longer term we will be more attractive to world class players and so our strategy can adjust. Longer into the future the Saudi's may move on from Eddie to a Pep type.
Thank goodness. Fortunately I decided to read the posts as my initial reaction on seeing the thread title was to immediately delete the thread. I thought it was Chippy advocating again mixed marriages ie people from Consett with the rest of the World.
woaaahh... are you pair of ****ers trying to insinuate I create threads about bullshit topics or something ?
Not going to lie. The title led me in and now I feel let down. Almost cartfished. But I will comment on topic. Blending is now a cultural way of allowing ex convicts to integrate back into society. They have served their time. Oh, not erm::::….. this is awkward.
I have to admit like I did see the thread title and jumped straight in all excited and that, hoping to see your latest moonshine recipe that you have concocted up. Bit gutted, not gonna lie.
Issue is we aren't financially able to buy the best of the best atm. Think until we are in Europe regularly our commercial deals will be scrutinized and picked at by those above (big 6 and the EPL) to try and show we are bending the rules. The Saudi's have enough to worry about without being investigated for dodgy deals on our finances atm so we need to buy players in our price range, develop them, push on in the league or selling them for a large profit e.g. if Ekitike is the next Mbappe he'll be sold for big bucks in a few seasons or he'll fire us to Europe...
Mate, that's football, it's mental. If Man City are like 5th after the first 6 games, the City fans would be calling for Pep's head saying "he's past it, lost the plot", etc. Nobody would give two ****s about the fact they were in League One less than 20 years ago. This is the big concern I have for Howe. Everyone's on the up, happy dancers enjoying life. But you can already see the impatience creeping in to horrendous social platforms. For all people say "he'll get my full support" if we're not comfortably top 10 in the first 6 matches, there'll be problems. I doubt the Saudi's have a lot of patience either. I hope for his sake he has better plans than a sprinkling of fairly reliable lower PL standard players.
