say what you want about the way chelsea play but you do not win the CL by playing crap. chelsea have shown real resilience, every time the bus was breached and they needed a goal they scored one, that is not luck.

<laugh>

Says it all.

I was amazed you only conceded the one with Bosingwa at the back. Ribery did toy with him at times but Cahill and Luiz dealt with the crosses (bar the Muller goal) and Cole proved why he's the best LB in world football. To be fair Bayern were without some crucial players, Badstuber had been a key player in a defence that only conceded 6 goals at the Allianz in the league all season and Gustavo is their ball winning midfielder.
Granted you guys will be elated with the win, I would be too if it were Spurs in your position but none the less no one can deny you were extremely lucky to even get to the final after the Barca game, let alone win the competition in a similar styled match of attack vs defence. The worst thing is, and it's not because I hate Chelsea but even a neutral, I still think of Barca when I hear the word "European Champions".

The title of champions though is subjective.
At the end of the day the CL is a cup competition, so its not always going to transpire that the best team in Europe wins it every year.
If so it would have been :
2005: Chelsea
2006: Barcelona/Chelsea
2007: Man Utd
2008: Man Utd
2009: Barcelona
2010: Barcelona
2011: Barcelona
2012: Real Madrid
That would be more accurate portrayal imo, of who has been best in Europe in the last few years.
Its the same with all sports tho, Frank Bruno held the boxing world title for a time, and i can say with abolute certainty that Frank Bruno, was never, at ANY point, the best Boxer in the world :)

Of course, we have been very lucky during this competition, but after all the bad luck we have had during previous competitions, I think it was fair that we finally got some good luck (even better that we got all of it in one season). I also think its a bit hypocritical of people saying we were undeserved winners, when they applaud Barcelona's CL win in 2009, when they too were incredibly lucky to get the final, even more so than us, only due to an awful refereeing performance.

It's not hypocritical at all, most fans, including myself said Barca were very lucky at Stamford Bridge, Ovebro's (SP?) performance was dire but you can't say Barca had luck in the final, they just dominated Utd and if anything were unlucky not to add to their 2-0 margin. Chelsea on the other hand, parked the bus, tank and stadium at the nou camp and then done the exact same at the Allianz and were able to get, in my opinion, two very, lucky wins in a competition glorified by having the best teams in Europe compete in what you'd hope would be entertaining matches.

OR we had the busiest fixture list and focused all our energy on two trophies instead of 4th place?

Yeah, right.

You keep telling yourself that 6th place is a decent finish.

The mighty Spurs juggernaut hasn't finished that low in three seasons <ok>

Please, as if finishing in the top 4 for a team like Chelsea wasn't a priority. For a club of your stature and financial power, you should be aiming to win ALL competitions you compete in, not "focusing energy" on certain cups.

If last minute goals, missed penalties, red cards, off-the-line clearances and penalty shoot-outs aren't entertaining, then i don't know what is.....

Personally, I'd prefer attack minded, free-flowing football where keepers may as well become spectators because the goals are of such fantastic quality is what I'd prefer.

And for the record, red cards are not entertaining.

Couldn't care less, we're the Champions of Europe sunshine <laugh>

What's 5 points when you can win two major cups?

Slightly changing topic for a minute, a mate of mine actually made a good point while I was trying drink my sorrows away in the pub the other night.

Now Abromavich has won every competition of worth with Chelsea, do Chelsea fans expect him to stay around longer? Or do you get the feeling he'll just pump his money into something else now?

He comes across to me as a guy who has to get what he wants and when he gets it, just throws it away.

Genuine question, not trying to wum. Just want to hear opinions of Chelsea fans.

Also, bear in mind, that the PL only has 4 qualification spots due the large amount of coefficient points it has, which have been mostly earned by Chelsea and Man Utd in the last 6 years (Both teams have gotten to two finals, and regularly make the quarters and semis).

And earned by Arsenal who have qualified for 15 years in a row and usually get to the latter stages, including a final. I suspect more of those points have been earned by Arsenal than Chelski over those years.

Coefficient points only last 6 years I think, which means Arsenals final against Barca would have no bearing on the current standing, I found a list of who had earnt the most points somewhere, I will find it.....
Here we go, the top 10 coeff point earners:
