After tonight's game, we play two matches before any of the top six play again. Those should give everyone an idea of whether we're in the race or not. But having a striker who has started 15 and scored 16 doesn't hurt.
Quite an even half. Thought we edged the first 30 with pool coming back in the last 15. Kev looking solid and working well with Conway. Smith looking sharp. Plenty of interchanging with KimBo popping up all over.
Why on Earth is Marshall and the the back four pumping high balls up to Smith and Mason? I realise the pitch is like a cabbage patch and it's difficult to play a passing game, but if the long ball tactic was the order of the day, then surely Helguson or even Rudy would be better? When the ball is on the floor, the Blackpool defenders look clueless - in the air, they're winning everything.
Great result for the team and the fans, funny how spirits are lifted after a good result. 10 points clear...wow!
And the Scarborough Tiger can go screw himself - probably does anyway. Play up the Wendies. We were due some luck with am away penalty decision having not been given a bolt on v. Bolton for the rugby tackle on Hudson. Great pefromances all over the park tonight - Marshall, McNuggs, Hudson until he went off, Connolly, Gunnarson, Mason, Smith and, in particular, Conway who covered every inch of sand on that beach of a pitch.
I thought Conway was finished with us a little while back. What a turnaround. Looks stronger and was all over th park...my man of the match!
Conway was immense MOTM. We should have had a pen when Joe was taken in the throat early on, so old Scar has no arguement.
It was a good performance all round. Kev put real pace onto the right flank. Lost count of the overlapping runs he made looking as if he was travelling twice as fast as the man inside him. Little Ben made some towering headers after he came on. How did Taylor get forward so quickly to break for the Smith goal (he can't have been doing his defensive duties)? Considering the playing surface we played some nice stuff. It mst have been hard for pool to mark up with KimBo, Mason, Conway and Smith interchanging regularly Some interesting comments from Beagrie as well. He seemed quite complimentary when he said we do just enough to win. He also seemed impressed with our ability to play on that surface. One negative, he didn't believe MM when he said they'd be training every day in Dubai. It'll be good for them to get some sun on their bones and come back raring to go.
Remote, made a comment about Dubai in another thread. In the army we go 2 weeks to acclimatise when going to a hot country. Cardiff -1 Celcius, Dubai +22 Celcius, I can't see too much hard core training going on.
