Burnley drawing is important. Good result today, the comments about the spirit in the club at the end of the game bode well. Having a fully fit squad, top of the league and players who appear to be happy. I have to say it looks quite rosy.
just got in was in town, well chuffed with result, Abel again eh? and those who said we should drop Diamé.. didn't see game of course as was tied up with the rugger crowd today trying to look interested with France vs ireland..
DOMINANT TIGERS PUT BLACKBURN TO THE SWORD Another trip to Lancashire for the Tiger Army ended in a War of the Roses victory. A comfortable two nil win over a poor Blackburn side sent City back to the top. A surprise change to the side saw Huddlestone return in place of Hayden, while Akpom was left on the bench again. City started off well, Hernandez bristling with confidence, as might be expected from a man with seven goals in his last seven games. Clucas came close in the thirteenth minute, but Steele saved well. A couple of minutes later we were reminded of McGregor’s value to this team, as he made a smart save from Marshall. Diame and Snodgrass both had good chances, as City made all the running. A marked lack of urgency was worrying, as Odubajo (my man of the match) made a fantastic block just before the half time whistle. Huddlestone fizzed a chance wide in added time, and it was nil nil at half time. The Tigers faithful amused themselves by singing in the rain, as they waited for the second half, and the expected improvement. No changes at half time, but a marked increase in urgency by City was evident. A great run and shot from the tireless Hernandez and a narrow miss from Clucas made the fans think a goal was coming, and right they were. Diame set up Hernandez, who was coolness personified as he stroked home his eighth goal in as many games. Rovers finally woke up and showed more urgency, Robertson making a great block from Ward. The second goal wasn’t long in coming. Hernandez returned the favour from Diame, squaring unselfishly for Diame to gleefully accept the gift, following great approach work from Huddlestone. And that was that. City defended solidly, another clean sheet a tribute to the solid work of the back four. City never hit top gear. They didn’t have to. They were solid, disciplined, professional, and never looked in danger. So, the Tigers are back on top, with a six pointer to come on Tuesday against Brighton. A salute to Stevie Bruce: you got it right. Again. And still we dare to dream. http://www.hullcityosc.com/match-report/dominant-tigers-put-blackburn-to-the-sword/
Top of the League but only a 2-0 win. Hernandez only gets one goal. Not a striker's @rsehole. Need to do better. Bruce out.
Its funny reading some of the pre match posts. Great Day Great win and the juniors had £5 on 2-0 at 17/2
Its strange how quiet it is on match thread when we win. You'd think Harper, Tigerscave etc would be as forthcoming when we win as when we lose Lets not forget Driff either. He'll obviously be praising Brucey.
Great day. We could do with the management duo of Steve and Evans getting the white ****e to get a win/draw on Monday against Middlesbrough - then if we take care of Brighton on Tuesday we'll start opening up a ice little gap. But fancy Bruce setting up for a draw and his team getting two spawny undeserved goals. Terrible day. Bruce Out. Side Note - Bloody Shola didn't score either. Useless ****.
Sounded like a pretty routine three points achieved at little more than a canter, roll on Tuesday, more of the same please.
The key tends to be not to concede in the first half, we didn't and could go on and win in the second. Blackburn are poor, I'd expect more from Brighton but at home we normally start better anyhow.
