Still I am sure the addition of ODowda to the other 3 players who are going to net us 6mil, will bring the total up to 10mil.
Glad we won for sure, but for me NP got the setup wrong again, and shouldn’t be glossed over. Playing Weimann as a RWB is a waste of his talents. Could you imagine Mitrovic or Solanke playing RWB. Utter nonsense from NP, again! Am I the only one who thought Wells did well when he came on?
Nonsense you claim, who would you have played at RWB? Wells was ok but never looked a goal threat at all again.
Supcon72 With the players available Pearson has no choice but to go left field. This season he's tried even Scott and Bell at the back such is his dilemma. Simpson's gone, Tanner's not ready, Vyner's had it. The other option he has is to play a back 4. Currently we don't have full backs, left or right, so he has to get by any way he can until the summer. Unless you can suggest an alternative.
I did think some time ago before NP that maybe Weimann could play wing-back because he has such a good engine. I admit though I would probably have kept him forward because he is scoring goals from that position. It worked and we won - with AW getting a goal anyway so hats off to NP - with a little luck too with Dacks penalty.
Little luck that Weimann got his goal as well.. the sliced shot from Williams was comical but landed on Weimanns foot, which was brilliantly executed.. luck was on our side, along with some decent saves by bents, 3 points gained, but could easily have been another defeat..
But it was not-we won goals win games -how many points have we lost this season at the closing stages off the game.
That is for NP to work out, but I would offer it shouldn’t be our 16 goal top scorer! Square peg, round hole, as I said, I bet Mitrovic and Solanke won’t be doing it for Fulham and Bournemouth, but you carry on defending the poor tactics and setup of our experienced manager….
Supcon72. I'm not defending the manager, I'm saying he doesn't have a choice. Something you fail to understand.
I thought all of our boy wonders put in poor, unusual performances, Semenyo, Scott and later Massengo below par, Bentley, Cundy, Weimann and Williams were all solid and Nige got it right, we won, it's all alright being critical of the manager when tactics and selection are obviously the cause of defeat but fair play and well done Nige for our victory. With all the circumstances he inherited, Covid 19 pandemic, his personal Covid suffering, the financial crisis, restricted, reduced internal and playing staff, I believe he has steered our ship through some very stormy waters and we have come through it, we are now on 43 points and should be confident of retaining our Championship status. I say well done Nige, it's been dodgy at times but you've nearly got us to safe ground.
I remember LJ doing that with his eyes shut.....different expectations, avoiding relegation to making the playoff's..
Well said-we were **** very **** under LJ and DH come the end. I actually enjoy watching us play football now-where it was hard work watching us over the last two years under LJ AND DH.
Still bloody hard work watching imo, knowing full well, for the majority of games we easily concede right up to the 94th minute I see that excuses are easily accepted for NP to save us from the drop but rarely allowed while LJ was in charge, trying to get us promoted!! How times and expectations have changed!!
LJ had his time (4.5 years) and chances, SL gave him financial backup, he failed his agreed targets and SL sacked him, when he signed his contract extension he knew the consequences and pit falls, this was his 3rd club and the ramifications, conditions that were laid out before him were obvious, his decision, Nige is under the same pressure but as you say times and conditions have changed, he also knew and was aware of the difficulties, so far he has maintained our status, improved our financial position and made us far more stable, if he fails then it's goodbye and we move swiftly on. I personally wish LJ all the best in the future, 4 clubs now and nothing to show but a micky mouse cup, he is finding it hard, his partner in crime also seems to be having a tough time at Ipswich, thank god we moved on.
If we lose our young talented players and not sign decent ones it will be "Next year watch us go".......................................DOWN..and then it will be........................................"bye bye Nige".....
the bottom 4 teams seem to have the fight to themselves Barnsley have 2 homes v Reading /Peterbro SHARED POINTS or 3pts gift! [ City play 2 of them Barnsley/Derby soo could be more free points!!!] their form, bottom 4, is so erratic hard to run through algorithm. I have 3 I use and best result [ averaged ] is Reading 45 [best 47 ] Barnsley 44 [best 48 ] Derby 44 [ best 45 ] Peterbro 42 [ best 44 ] . City is so erratic they feature on best scenario 61 average @ 55
