It's City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool. I can 100% guarantee that right now.

Nah, I don't think it is. This is a cup tournament, and it's all or nothing. You either win the cup, or you don't. There's no benefit unless you reach the final. I don't see the point in getting through by the skin of our teeth if we're just going to get booted out in the next round. We can avoid that if we choose the right team and IF they step up.

I'm just disappointed in some of the players really. By the sounds of it, a few didn't take the game seriously and didn't turn up properly. I can't applaud that.

And if we did field a 'weakened' team which got a result in the end, then some responsibility lies with Pardew to choose a team which is going to see us through with relative confidence. It was a risky move today and it showed. One risk too far and out we go. It would be annoying to get booted out purely because either Pards makes the wrong choice, or because the team didn't step up. Let's see how far we can get without going out due to our own fault.

Basically, my only gripe is with those players who didn't give it their all in their first start this season. Some did, some didn't.

I'd rather we put a weaker side out and lose a cup game than put our full strength side out and have them kicked allover the park.

Aye lets risk all of our best players from our paper thin squad and slip down the league. Good plan Kinnear!

I'm definitely all for fielding the youngsters and letting them have a run out, mixed with a few of the seniors, we simply don't have a big enough squad to be risking our best players, 2 or 3 key injuries and we go from looking like a very strong outfit to a lower bottom half team.

Keep doing it the way we're doing it I say, introducing more of the senior lads as and when needed.

Its really too hard to tell which of the players were or weren't busting a gut tonight anyway without actually seeing it which none of us did.

And every single time they pulled goals back in the game we managed to better them, a definite confidence boost and hopefully another few promising performances for the youngsters.

I'd rather players put 100% effort in, and I'd rather those who eventually get a competitive start are grateful for their opportunity and fight. If they do that I'm chuffed to bits. It's all I ask for.

    No one said that helmet.

Once again no one said that. I don't care whether they're young or old. I just want them to fight. I want the youngsters to impress and, most importantly, I want any senior players to take the game seriously. I think the youngsters did well, but some of the older ones? Not so sure.

Chappaz seems to have the uncanny nack to be able to see which players put 100% effort in from his radio.

    Wizard or Divvy?

<laugh> theres that word again "helmet" do you think you're Joey Barton or is that the only insult you know?

So how do you judge players effort from your radio anyway then, please I'd like to know? :)

You can't complain with a win away from home against tough opposition. I'm very pleased with the points and some stand out performances from our French meastros. Just think how good Cabaye was against Villa... now add Ben Arfa and Marveaux into that Midfield.

Seems to me like there was some serious defensive ****-ups. The marking on pretty much all of those goals was ****e. Look at 48 secs in, where were the defenders! And at 1:08 that looked like possibly Sammy (I think) trying to block the cross. Again, where were the defenders like Perch and Simpson down that side?

Maybe I just don't let wins overshadow performances, that's all. How would anyone ever improve if they just accepted a narrow win and that was that? Whether a team wins or loses, there are problems and concerns which still need to be addressed. Without doing that people just end up getting bent over eventually. After all, there is another game after this. Continuous improvement imo - even in victory. What's wrong with that?

In fact, if you want to see a man who isn't happy with just any old win, look at this fella in the first video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/14869914.stm

Only just over a year ago Forest pushed us hard in the Championship. And now we can send a team of reserves there and beat them. I reckon thats progress :)

Not sure if our Championship starting 11 were any better than the 11 we put out today to be honest. Our strongest starting 11 now absolutely pisses and ****s all over anything we could put out during the Championship season.

In fact, does anyone have our most common starting 11 from that season? It would be interesting to compare. Taking into account of course how some players were back then (i.e. Enrique and Colo).
