There were people - you amongst them, Bob - that were saying he should start for a run of games. You must surely now agree that that would have been wrong. I really hope he comes good, but he's got a very long way to go.
Looking at the (BBC) stats, as the away team the picture seems rather different. Much more possession 65%, 12 shots against 5, 4 against 3 on target. 10 corners against 2. Funny old game innit ?
He missed a few decent chances, mostly because he failed to control the ball. But at least he got into the right positions to get the chances. Dykes missed a good chance and the pen but doesn't seem to get the number of chances Armstong manages.
And I totally stand by that, I don't see what he's done wrong. Was he any better or worse than anyone else tonight?
He was awful Bob, almost comically bad. He's strong and quick yes, but his touch is terrible. It would be horrible if he became a scapegoat, which is why he shouldn't start. For now, at least.
Absolutely Bob & no one stood out tonight & if anyone it was Tim who at least tried to break through their defence with his runs, nothing against Armstrong & as SW said he’s only 19, I just watched him a bit more to see if he’s improving under mick in last few months
Saw the last 20 minutes of the game and feeling a bit shell shock with the result. Just goes to show how tight the competition is.
Had trouble sleeping and the sandman caught me just a few hours before KO. Just woke up here in Sydney, but now I wish I hadn't. It seems that WE were KO'D. Sad, yeah, dejected, somewhat, discouraged, absolutely 'effin not. OK. Once again we fall to a lower table team that lifts to play us, and by all accounts here, perhaps their best game of the year - we do seem to bring out the best in others. Looking at the BBC stats, we either fiddled about too much with the ball, or they got lucky, OR maybe the stats lie (I wouldn't put it past them). Statistics, according to Beeb, almost twice as much possession, more than twice as many shots, one more shot on target (pen. miss ), and 5 times their corners (2-10). But I think, and this is only going by the lies...er, stats, 2.5 times fewer fouls, which I reckon is telling. These are momentum stoppers, and in hindsight, this may have been their ploy. Slow down Chair and the likes, to put us off our game. Anyway, rant over, game over, learn from it and move on (the game, not the rant). Tweeties, here we come!
Sorry IwasanotherwatfordR. Stealing your thunder there. I really should read the posts more carefully. In my defence, your honour, it's always harder to read posts when we've lost. Esp, after just waking up. I'll just go back to.. to....
Plus side - a couple of good pubs and some time with my son, who is sadly cursed when it comes to QPR, very rarely sees us win live, even though he sings and shouts his heart out for the whole game. Downside - how easily our shape was cancelled out by closing down Chair and keeping our fullbacks on the back foot. Once they were two up (not Seny’s greatest game either) they were pretty content to take it easy. I suspect Beale would have gone 3 at the back but couldn’t because of the injury to Jake, and presumably not wanting to drop Field into the 3. No outstanding players for Birmingham but they were well coached, much better than last season. No complaints on this result, must and will do better. I still don’t get what the fuss is about for Armstrong and I think most of the Rs fans there are beginning to feel the same. The result isn’t his fault though, plenty of other bad days at the office today. Then there were huge delays for the train home so got an expensive Uber back.
