Ivor is quite right in his summary. The only bright side of last night is that it lessens the load. However, losing 3-0 is not good enough and definitely if there were any sherkers last night then ML will no doubt re-calibrate the problem Bartley-style. He disappeared without trace after our last humbling event. There is clearly a deficit within the club at center-back if Monk, who was never considered a good center-back at the Championship level never mind the Prem, is permitted to occupy a squad position and play in a match such as this. He is 34 or 35 - never the fastest guy on the park in his prime. Do we really not have anybody at U-21 or thereabouts that can make a stronger claim to start than this. If Bartley was still around I presume he would have started last night in place of Monk. Something is not right with Bartley and something needs to be done to correct his situation and the lack of able bodies in the center back position.
I'm not missing anything but i feel sorry for gendross who is now the scapegoat of the wallies witchhunt......Who will be after him i wonder as there are not many left to choose from....my bet will be Libertarian, he must be in the frame the way he shoots the wallies down in flames....
I'd better get my Spitfire serviced then Dai,and ensure that the guns only fire blanks, else there'll be a lot of blood on these pages !!!
The League Cup is a strange animal. It's there for the taking for a decent mid-table Premier League team with no European commitments. A team that can put out it's best team without compromising its standing in the League table or a European competition. The newly promoted teams may prefer to concentrate their efforts on the PL without distractions (I think we went out to Shrewsbury a couple of years ago). The likes of Stoke or Southampton or Everton may come up trumps this time round. By all accounts we could have been out of sight before half-time so I don't think it was a capitulation, but something went wrong second half. And even though we won it last season we nearly came a cropper at Crawley coming from behind in the second half. I think I'm glad we're out of it. If we don't get beyond the group phase in the Europa League then we can give the FA Cup a good go instead.
Scottswan makes a joke. Birmingham 3 Swansea 1 - back to earth with a Brum-p http://www.theswanseaway.co.uk/
