Agreed, it's not fair for people here to start saying stuff like 'typical scouse racist bastards' etc. I think the main beef is with the mass Evra abuse/booing though - supporting Suarez's incident - rather than direct racism, though I've only just tuned into the match now so I don't know if there's been anything else.

To be fair to Liverpool it is unrealistic to expect all the fans to behave themselves, especially when a siege mentality has built up as a result of the Suarez saga. I have no doubt that if it was our club in their position a few of our fans would let us down too.

The real test here is how Liverpool as a club deals with the wrongdoers. Hopefully LFC will ban them and restore their reputation somewhat.

The people booing are most likely people of all races in the Liverpool support, it was always going to happen. This was probably predicted in the 1840s.

This could of been avoided though it the whole thing was dealt with better by Liverpool/Dalglish; the continuing bloody-minded denial and then the t-shirts were a joke.

Very good reffing there. I don't remember Mark Halsey being a bad ref, and he was the one who had cancer last year. Much better than Howard Webb

I can't disagree there, but even if we had dealt with the situation perfectly...Evra would always be booed just for being involved, it's the way football fans are.

How did maxi not get sent off? 2 footed tackle = straight red no matter if he got the ball/hurt the player or whatever. There has been articles over past week saying they are going to clamp down on it then that happens and ref bottles it

I agree completely. It is a rod of the clubs own making but irrespective of how they got there a siege mentality is definitely in place. Which is why I said it was unrealistic to expect the day to go without incident.

It doesn't absolve individual responsibility though and the racists are well out of order. I just hope the club delivers on its promise to ban them for life.

There was no momentum and it didn't look that dangerous when I rewinded it. The law accounts for single and two footed tackles if deemed dangerous. But it could have easily been a red after all the debate on the matter. Maxi is lucky.

Carrick has had over 100 passes today. I think he's kept the ball well and played reasonably well
