And what stops them simply re-registering with slightly different details..?

Nothing really. Freedom of speech can be a pain sometimes, but we'd be much worse off it we didn't have it.

You can't throw people in jail because they've said a few mean things on Twitter.

(Obviously, I'm not defending them. They're scum.)

There is no easy answer to this abuse. However abuse it is and in my opinion freedom of speech does not come into it. As I've said before and say again freedom of speech still comes with some responsibility. It is not there just to abuse or threaten as was proved a short while ago when the guy issuing racilist comments went down. Sadly the authorities do not see this kind of abuse as being particularly worthy of prosecution. Banning him from a twitter account would actually effect his use of an E mail address. It could prove to be a bit of a nuisance having to keep changing addresses. Somehow though I cannot see them take any action. So sadly for a short while perhaps he should come off twitter........

Agreed, Freedom of Speech can be a pain. ;)

I suppose it's a mute point that before several years ago, both Facebook and Twitter didn't exist, and therefore people weren't able to abuse others quite so easily.

I couldn't agree more strongly. Well said Beddy.

I notice you also see that perhaps the best move for Sharp would be to come off the social networks for a while.

Incidentally, Brum have just scored against WHU.
