Sharp actually did if you include his goals for Doncaster. He scored 9 league goals for Saints and 10 for Doncaster. Rodriguez scored 15 league goals.
I would like to see Shape back and on the bench, would like to have him ready to come on for 15 minutes if we need a goal. He is a goal poacher and does score goals, more than our present strikers on the bench
I agree, and for all we know so does Nigel. But if you were Billy, would you want that? The odd 15 minutes here and there - no thanks. We don't know if Nigel doesn't want him, or if Cortese doesn't want him on the wage bill (in comparison to the amount of game time he would get), or if Sharp himself just wants to play first team football for someone.
Sharp definitely didn't ask for the move...he was shocked and said he needs answers from Southampton...can't see him wanting to come back to sit on the bench. He is on a year long loan, isn't he? I think people misunderstand Adkins sometime...he's tougher than he looks. I suspect Adkins couldn't see Sharp getting much game time and he and Cortese put their heads together to decide where the money could be best spent. Sharp was sacrificed. I suspect a couple of others will go if we are to get the defenders we need.
Rodriguez got more goals in all competitions, 21 to 19, including four goals in one game in the League Cup.
Still not sure about JRod...he has to take second place to Lambert which limits his opportunites. However, I don't see why he can't adapt to that and still be an asset to us.
Can't bring myself to wish either Forest or Blackburn well. The way they have treated their managers is very poor. Hope the quick fixes takes a bit longer......
Remember Cortese sacked two managers quickly because they weren't the right fit for Saints in his opinion. He has been proved right in his choice of Adkins. Neither sacked manager complained so presumably had good pay offs...which is more than most of us would get. McLeish seems a strange appointment, but has a decent record as a manager so will be interesting to see. As they say, the first day of your appointment as a manager is one day nearer to the sack.
