The dealing of Billy Sharp who is a proven goalscorer at Championship level for several clubs compared to signing Jay Rodriguez for 7 million who isn't a proven goalscorer at any level has been mystifying and brainless at best from Adkins.
What? He scored ****loads in the Championship last season, is younger than Sharp and has a lot more pace to burn.
Sharp got more goals. He got 9 goals in 11 starts for us so he'd already gelled with the team. Suppose I'm being harsh on Rodriguez as I'm pissed off he was reasonable but Sharp outscored him. Whatever is said Rodriguez isn't 5 million pounds better.
Sharp just does not fit our style this year, he is a goal poacher, if you are gonna have a more lone striker then you need someone who can hold up the ball and link up play. Sharp wouldnt be successful in our team this year. Rodriguez is for the future and im sure will take the reigns from Lambert one day.
Ok Sharp may have got more goals, but I think Rodriguez is a future PL player. Sharp is a good Championship player but no more IMO.
Rodriguez scored 15+ goals for Burnley two seasons running, how much more proven can you get at the age of 22? You can't compare them yet, if you ask me we've seen the best of Sharp, and Rodriguez has had few chances. As for O'Driscoll, he's very unfortunate, but lots of people said that about Pardew when we sacked him. I'll wait and see what happens before I judge the Forest board.
Completely agree, Sharp's link up play and general play are sub par; he's almost like playing with 10 men in exchange for a goal every other game, which we can't afford in the prem. and where would he fit in? You don't see a lot of Rodriguez or Mayuka, but I'd say they're both better options off the bench than Sharp.
I'm not sure that Sharp can't play in the Premier league, and I also thought he has been somewhat hard done by Saints. But I also agree that the way he plays and the way Saints want to play do not mesh. So him fitting in or finding much time in the team is problematic. I would say it is up to him. Saints don't need to sell, but I do feel like if Sharp wants to leave in January they should respect his wishes for what he's done for the club. And I don't think they would have take a big financial hit or anything. But I'm not sure that is in Sharp's best interest. If he sticks with Forest they could get promoted or he could play well and increase his value. Perhaps he can show enough to convince Saints to give him a shot. Or, at the very least both he and Saints will have more options in the summer as to where he can go and it will be easy to work out a deal that pleases everyone.
Forest owner tweeted it this morning. I was quite surprised to come on here just then, and not see that someone had already posted it up here.
Oh ignore me! That's why no-one has posted it! I've seen a retweet from a parody account. How pathetic some people are.
It's truly unbelievable. How can any manager make a difference that quickly. He's not even had one transfer window, Joke!
Feel for Forest fans having that dullard foisted upon them. Do hope Blackburn drop through the leagues though, never liked them since I got jumped there in 84.
Setting aside finances, has there been more incompetent management in recent years? Should have fired Kean after getting relegated, for their sake and his...instead, they dithered and fire him at a time when the team was playing fairly well, and when a new manager would have little chance to influence the squad. Now, suddenly, they have little hope of achieving anything save a mid-table finish. There's only one way they could make this worse: by hiring Mark Hughes.
