Nothing has changed, for me. Sharp was always going to go to Forest and score goals. His record at Championship level proves that. So him scoring those goals shouldn't really suddenly lead to any discussion or debate arising on our part about bringing him back. I'd have loved to have kept him within our squad, but with us playing one up front he was never going to get that much game before. Certainly not before the 60th minute in games any way. And whilst that might not matter to us as a whole, I'm sure it would matter greatly to Billy. I do not get any impression that he is in football just for the money or fame. I'm sure he just wants to play football, and score goals. If we go down this season, we welcome him straight back into the squad and he scores us 20 goals in the Championship next season. If we stay up, we say thank you very much Billy and we cash in on him - on the back of yet another successful season for the lad in the Championship. The only real issue with that is if we go down and Forest go up. In that situation, it might be difficult for us to deny Billy his chance in the PL at last. Certainly I personally would accept us, in this situation only, cutting our ties with Billy and letting him go.
Sean O'Driscoll has been sacked. Considering their time at Doncaster together, I would suggest that he was a big reason why Sharp agreed to go to Forest.
Seriously? That's a ****ing joke. Not like they're in the promotion race or anything, and just had a comfortable win.
Nottingham Forest sack O'Driscoll By Matt Domm, Reporter Filed: Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 18:54 UK Last Updated: Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 18:59 UK Championship side Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Sean O'Driscoll, chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has confirmed. Al Hasawi made the announcement on his Twitter account just hours after Forest defeated Leeds United 4-2 in the day's early kickoff. The tweet read: "It saddens me but we have parted company with Sean O'Driscoll. A tough decision but we are determined to move our great club forward." Forest are currently eighth in the Championship. MADNESS !!!!!
Full Official Statement from Nottingham Forest Football Club: http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-261212-561052.aspx Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi said: “We cannot speak highly enough of Sean as a man. He was appointed at an extremely difficult time for the Club and can count himself unlucky to have lost his job with the team just one point away from the top six. “But we have a responsibility to look to the future for this great Club because we have huge ambitions for it. “We knew when we bought the Club in the summer that it would take time for the players we bought in to settle but that process has taken longer than we anticipated. “We feel we have developed a really strong squad of players but are still searching for consistency in terms of team performance, underlined by the fact that we have not won more than two games in succession in the Championship this season. “And with the January transfer window approaching, we feel it’s the right time to make a change. “We are looking to bring in an ambitious manager with Premier League experience.” Abdulaziz Al Hasawi, who was at The City Ground for today’s game against Leeds, added: “The timing of our decision may look a little odd after the win over Leeds but sometimes you need to make changes with the long term future in mind. “Sometimes those changes need to be made from a position of strength rather than weakness and that is what we are trying to do.”
Crazy...I know that they had thoughts of automatic promotion, but firing the manager when you still look like a very good bet for the playoffs is madness.
Roy Keane for Forest? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...an-ODriscoll-sacked-by-Nottingham-Forest.html Please can he fall out with Billy and send him back?
What a ****ing disgrace that O'Driscoll was sacked. 1 point off the playoffs! It seems to me that O'Driscoll was never a long term appointment. As soon as bigger names became available he was going to be out of the door unless they were near the automatic places.
Adkins was asked on Player about Billy...he said that scoring at one club doesn't mean you can necessarily score at another club in a different league. Sounds like it was doubt about him scoring in the PL that caused his move.
It would appear that Mark Hughes will be working for a new set of foreign owners before this week is out.
Like I said, the Forest owners were waiting for a big name before sacking O'Driscoll. I wondered why they appointed him, he's not known for managing teams at the top end of the table.
