So if SL allowed this club to drop a division you would be happy, you know as well as I do it would be suicidal to let us be relagated I would love Del to turn it around,It will be a miracle if it happens, but yes anything is possible,we will have to wait and see. Regards your slagging of fellow posters there is no need of it.we leave that on Otib.
I don't like insulting individuals Red Robin.. but your suggestion that SL should sell is simply moronic. You say "If SL allows us to drop down a division".."It would be suicidal to let us get relegated" Relegation would be the result of 46 games played out in a competitive division where, the results of the games are not determined by how much cash the owner spends. Steve Lansdown has poured money into this club and has done so every time a new manager has been appointed. I'm not sure what more you want from an owner/chairman. He has bankrolled losses of £30m-£40m in an attempt get make this club as successful as possible. He could have run the club within its means and we would still be languishing in league 1 possibly even struggling in the basement with the gas. Red Robin, if you have been following our club for 30 years, you will know that we have been relegated in the past. In fact we have plummeted through the leagues... but we are still in existence. We may well get relegated this year.. Would that mean you'd stop supporting City? Of course it wouldn't. So instead of all the negativity and defeatism.. let's get behind them with a bit of fire in out bellies. If we end up relegated, we can then debate the fighting spirit of the players.. But we can do that safe in the knowledge that we did everything we could as fans. Don't just sing when we are winning. It is when they are struggling that the players need our support the most.
I do agree with you Mikey regarding the amount of money SL has poured into the club, and has Bristol City in his blood. However, I think the problem is that a lot of it has been wasted (one example,David James) and I think he's made very poor decisions on managers etc or he has been wrongly advised. It sounds like I've been a supporter as long as you have, from the late 60s and onwards and have been and seen all the up's and downs. I just think that the frustration is, we have at long last, have a director putting money into the club with visions of progress along with talks of a new stadium and premier league. But apart from promotion to the championship, it seems to me that we are going backwards. And in my opinion it's because of bad decisions from the board. IMO, relegation will be a disaster, for all the efforts that got us out of league 1, will seem totally wasted. It may take another 5 years plus before we get back up, in which time I believe SL will take even more of a backseat, The stadium won't happen and gates will fall and of course we will lose ANY good players that we have. I do think Red Robin got a bit carried away at the begining of the season, when we had a couple of good results! But at the end of the day, what we all want as fans is success for our club. I'm not convinced with a DOF fulltime, but I do believe SL needs much better advisors regarding managers etc if we/he is looking to progress.
Spot on, The way we started it really looked a revaluation,we must not drop a division, all the hard work gained would be lost, and as you say there is no guarantee of getting out of League One. But I am more than happy for Del to turn us around, financially it makes sence, but I need to be convinced,SL obviviously believes the guy it the one to take us forward. The only problem he did with Tinnion and Millen until it became unbearable.
