Red Robin having a DOF is not saying they failed its about offering experience and extra pair of eyes, called backing the manager and supporting him. But in fairness its a waste of time because you want him gone, so not much will appease you. But go back 7 weeks ago we were dark horses, yesterday and the past few weeks have been ****ing awful but chopping and changing all the time will not make a difference. Just get someone else do the survival bit and next year the same.
We've been down this road far too many times before and I'm starting to wonder who exactly is to blame for our ever increasing poor situations. Over the last few years have we been directing our negative comments towards the wrong person(s) or should we be pointing our fingers at the only people who have the solution in their hands (feet actually) who are the players. I feel for Derek after he came here with all good intention and his initial efforts at improving a team that seemingly wants to self destruct after a couple of good results and appeared to be gaining our confidence. However as we all now know the honeymoon became a limp biscuit when the injury bug hit us big time and we vanished down the drain from which we were lucky to escape last season. Do we now expect SL to throw his undying support behind Derek along with vast sums of Channel Islands money to fix the problem or is it, as I suspect, a non-workable sitiuation? Will we soon see the back of Derek or will we go through the annual "let's find a new manager" festival? If you're anything like me then you must be getting fed up with hearing the platitudes coming out of Ashton Gate because they never solve the problem and I don't see any reason to believe that this time it will be any different. Go on, go ahead and hire a new manager that will blame the lack of monies available as the reason for his inevitable failure (Billy Davies comes to mind) and full marks to Derek for not using that lame excuse. Until someone has the balls to realise that the entire setup at BCFC is the biggest deterrent to hiring a proven manager (no negative reference intended towards DM because I like him) and bringing in new blood in regard to players, then our ongoing lack of club pride will continue to eat away at our ever decreasing supporter base until we vanise permanently in to the footballing crevasse. My final words are directed at all the personnel, both on and off the pitch, who need to decide if they want to stay in the footballing business or not, and if the answer is the latter then go away and find some other business to support your lack of commitment. So there!
Mike so to the point ,great script and SL will go down as a failure IF BCFC get relagated this term. I really would suggest putting the club on the market,as the previous speel regards taking city to the next level will undoubtedly be a long long way away.
Can we STOP taking on inexperienced, useless managers and pay the right money for someone that can do something for this club....it's not bloody rocket science. I keep hearing all this "the rubbish players that Del took on". But of course this is all excuses, what about the players he's brought in? are they rubbish as well? Well if so, he bloody wanted them. You go to a pound shop, buy something, it breaks because it's cheap......Pay a bit more, it will do the job properly and last much longer. I don't understand SL's thoughts. He brought Coppell in, ok he resigned, (lost the plot, a one off) couldn't have cost much in compensation. So why NOT go for another experienced manager, why Keef? and then why Del? Sorry SL, you get what you pay for, if we go down, it's down to the dross managers you've brought in. I just don't understand. SL wanted to pay millions for a new stadium to progress the club to heights of the premiership. To do that you need to have strong capable staff throughout, which of course includes good management. If you pay peanuts you get Monkeys. Yes a new manager will make a difference.....BUT it has to be the right one. Build a house made of bricks not of bloody paper. Surely it will cost more to go down than to get a decent manager.
Which "rubbish" players are these then Baldock Davies Cunningham Heaton They are all rubbish aren't they, plus of course there is that awful defender Elokobi, its just terrible - SERIOUSLY...?! But of course, that's just 4 who feature in the 1st team which means that there are 7 of the old squad left. Getting it now.....?
Prem; Foster and Pearson arrived after DMc took over and are normally regulars in the side so that makes 5 left in each team that we field, from the bad old days. I genuinely feel that there lies the problem .And coincidentally the positions are two central defenders, one central midfield and both wingers. Best before dates and any other suitable descriptions come to mind. DMc apart from selling last summer those that fill these vital slots, had his hands tied because none of them were out of contract.
Seven defeats on the trot, bottom of the league and playing crap. Back to the old days of long ball and havn't got a clue.... Nothing's improved Getting it now?
Exactly you generally get what you pay for,big mistake by SL if we go down which is very likely SL should sell, please don't tell me city will fold, the club is bigger than any single individual always was, always will be.
Sojust to be clear One4, Baldock, Davies, Cunningham and Heaton are not a significant improvement on what we had - is that what you ae saying...? Please say yes because if you do, it will completely invalidate anything else you have to say... RR, there are no new buyers queueing up in the wings waiting to buy the club, if SL sells, we will be wound up inside 18-24 months max - either thaat or playing our neighbours on a shoestring budget - please behave...
They are as players but not as a team.....their is a difference. We mainly had rubbish players under GJ, but he managed them, so as to get the best from them as a TEAM. Del has had a year to sort it..shows he's not capable. I could tell after the Gillingham micky mouse game it was gonna be a struggle....None of this is a shock.
Shiny - I heard the call - it was just some bloke moaning speculating that Lansdown may call him over - SL has now publically backed DM A question about Billy Davies - anyone wonder why he has been out of work for so long???
'Baldock, Davies, Cunningham and Heaton' Of course they're better players. But management is about choices, especially when given a budget. We already had Stead, Taylor and Pitman so I'll repeat for the umpteenth time our priority WAS and STILL is a top CH and CM. McInnes tried to persuade 4 different CH's to sign - He couldn't because the silly bu**er had spent it on 2 strikers, plus Anderson and Morris. Management is also getting the best of what you have available - something McInnes has failed miserably. And as for his 5 changes a game ..................
After you played us McInnnes was nothing short of a god in your eyes. What's gone wrong? Or was it just a blip.... Seem to remember Wiz calling for promotion.
Unfortunetely my friend you was the one doing the rounds saying we were dark horses for play offs, you seem to completely forget that prior to this run, and in football this happens you go on a bad run. You was singing from the rafters that we were this and we were that. Most people forgot Cunningham gave us balance and made us a team. When did this poor run start when Cunnigham got injured. I'm not saying for one minute that one player makes a team. And Redprint check your dates until Baldock and Davies arrived we had already failed with those defenders with only spending pittance on Anderson and Cunningham. Also yes we had Stead, Pitman and Taylor but did not set the world alight did they in the scoring charts last year. Don't worry you will say I know **** all, but Baldocks deal was made up of the money owed by West Ham on the Maynard deal which was made probably by West Ham knowing they were selling Maynard for reportedly 2.8 million with a 20% most common sell clause on would mean they would owe us another 560k. I don't know but just suggesting. Read Vinnie Jones autobiography Howard Wilkingson bought him piss off the the players who thought they ran the club. Just maybe Morris was bought in on the free to do just that. You don't know and neither do I. The biggest problem we have on this board is people think they can do a better job, when in reality we know **** all about what goes on in training and dealings of this club. We have only seen 30 odd minutes combined of Anderson and sometimes he looks good other a bit of a luxury like Albert, with no defensive qualities, but because he's not being played we must be right and Del is wrong.
'we know **** all about what goes on in training' - I agree but McInnes has seen the pair of them in training and it's the reason we've only seen - '30 odd minutes combined of Anderson' - and bit longer for Morris. McInnes regrets it more by the day. What a waste of his budget, shows pathetic judgement to bring them to AG at the expense of CH. 'check your dates' - Is it beyond your comprehension that deals are set up over months of negotiation. I will admit that 1 extra striker was needed but 2 was and is plain stupid.
ROD, city were a million miles at the seasons start to the carp we watched Sunday and for the last two months or so.you do have to questions Dels purchases, substitutions, setup of play. I do not see any confidence on the pitch now, Is it the manager or the players.i have my opinion and I believe Del has drained it out of them.
Red Robin. It is clear to anyone who can read, that your opinion after only 2 games was completely misguided. Is it possible that your opinion is equally off the mark regarding McInnes "draining" the confidence of the players? If it is possible that you are wrong (..again) Would you be encouraged to start thinking before posting? You have made your current feelings clear. You want a change of manager. You're fully entitled to share your opinion on football forums.. but.. What do you hope to achieve by being so repetitive with your negative thoughts? Do you honestly think the board will act as a result of your view? Please, please stop. Right now the club we love needs our support. Nobody is asking you to start singing Del's praises (As you were only a few weeks ago). Nobody is asking you to chant his name on match day... but please stop trying to make everyone feel as negative as you. "YOU ONLY SING WHEN WERE WINNING" For crying out loud man, strap on a pair and get behind the team. One last question. If our form were to turn around and we were to start climbing the table... Would you accept that you you were wrong? Or would you carry on acting like an imbecile? P.S. I've also seen on another thread, that you're suggesting SL should sell up? That's confirmed it for me. You're an actual moron.
