Hodgson has stated that "Performance is more important than goals." I'm not sure whether that's the daftest statement I've ever heard from a football coach. So a brilliant passing performance and a 1-0 win is a good performance is it? Keeping the ball for 85 minutes and winning 2-0 is more important than kicking 10 past San Marino is it? Surely in a match like this goals are the most important thing. He's talking twaddle.

Agree,what happened to win ugly?.i would rather win ugly when needed,rather than knock the ball about and not score

So what do you think about this?

A rape conviction would prevent you ever being employed again in many jobs. What about football? Should he been given another chance when he's served his time or should football take a moral stance and exclude him?

Incidentally, "rehabilitation" is not an issue here because Evans still denies the offence and he is appealing to the Criminal Cases Review Commission in the hope of getting his conviction quashed.
 
Certainly wouldn't want Evans playing for Spurs, but I don't think that he should be prevented from having a professional career because of his conviction.
Leaving the fairly bizarre circumstances of the case behind, what do people think that he should be allowed to do, instead?

Anything else. The notion is that if you have served your time then for most crimes you return to society.

For a football player though, you have the ritual of thousands abusing your name for 90 odd mins
1-2 times per week for 9 months a year.
 
Luke McCormick was sentenced for causing death by dangerous driving and whilst drunk at the wheel of his car. If you remember he killed two young kids.

On his release from prison, he not only got his job back as goalkeeper for Plymouth Argyle, but is now their club captain.

I was at a Plymouth away game last season and the guy got dogs abuse from the home fans.

Spurs supporters of a certain age will remember Alan Sunderland.

I went to a Gills match and Lee Hughes (Port Vale?) also got an ending stream of abuse. You have to be strong to get through that.

And you could have the throwing aim akin to a Spurs forward on goal.
And it would not matter as you're bound to hit one of them.
