Well the beeb says doubtful atm, so replace with Bassong.

But Gomes needs a break, We need someone more assured at RB than Mutton, and trying to work the team around VDV just doesn't seem to be working currently!
 
Two up front Pav Defoe and VDV as an attacking midfielder. Oh and a whiskey, my good man! Will you accept this 42" flat screen in payment?
 
That TV is a bit warm!

But can VDV play in a 442? Only in the right IMO which means we'll lose Azza and with it the only pace we have other than JD.

I'm not overly fond of Azza on the left, what about VDV on the left as an attacking 4-3-3? No we'll get overrun in MF then <steam>

I don't do team formations normally but it's a bit quiet in here. Gallas Dawson BAE
Kaboul/Huddlestone
Lennon VDV Modric Bale
Pav. Defoe

On paper that wont work but with right movement from the players that kind of formation could be used. At the moment we have Hutton and Lennon I don't think we need two 'Wingers' you can tinker with these formations forever, but we need to find a way to integrate VDV into the team and firm up his role.

I like that too. Players will have to be a bit discilpined when they need to defend could make us hard to break down but still be good on the attack!!

I just wish we could play it, Bale, Dawson, Kaboul, Gallas and Hudd not available!!!

Its just like the late 90's all over again.
