Younger people who think this virus is no big deal need educating about the long term risks to themselves, it's not just about us older folks. Some people have suffered long term effects to their health regardless of age. It could ruin an elite sports person's career.
From experience, it's people in the 40-50 age range to be wary of, as they're the ones most demanding of life returning to normal on their schedule and being blasé about how "only 90 year olds" die of it, while on VE Day a bunch of them were mingling with various households - even though they'd already tested positive a few weeks prior
Very true Spurf. However, there are some of us that have suffered long term damage from COVID yet would rather we get this over with ASAP at any cost. In other words, rather than kick the can down the road and make it last longer, lets get it over and done.
Hi mate...happy new year to you and yours Must be devastating for her...can't imagine how she must be feeling. Hope she has people around her.
There have been 40 positive tests in the Premier League this week: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55540397 Not good.
It is difficult to be objective with Tottenham, because it is still in our hearts and we love Tottenham. It is a relationship that is never going to stop. "We are always going to think about the club, but now I think it is time for us not to compare and to be 100 per cent focused on Paris Saint-Germain." All the best Poch destined to meet them in the CL at some stage bookmark this
He was a fabulous footballer. It's mad that he only won 49 international caps. He'll be forever part of movie greatness for this... please log in to view this image Shame that **** Osgood's name is on there too!
Anyone ITK about the general T+Cs of sponsor deals for football clubs ?? Specifically whether sponsors have to cough up more if a club reaches a cup final. I said a while ago that it would be nice if as a goodwill gesture THFC could donate all the League cup win money accrued to the Os. However in Corona chaos times I suspect that the creditors of new WHL may not allow that. So I was wondering whether reaching cup finals triggers clauses which means the likes of AIA have to pay up for the wider visibility that the TV audience would bring (and thus offset the goodwill gesture) .
If anything, sponsor deals are weighted to pay less if certain criteria aren't met, for example Man Utd's deal with Chevrolet pays them less if they fail to qualify for the Champions League No wonder referees are so keen to keep awarding them penalties, they don't want them to suffer the indignity of having financial parity with 80% of Premier League clubs...
I think it’s probably very unstandardised and likely down to individual clubs and sponsors to negotiate. But hbic is probably right, I’d assume there’s far more likely to be penalties for not meeting certain objectives than bonuses for winning cups etc. Clauses about participation or lack thereof in European competitions are IMO more likely to exist than bonus payouts for winning a domestic cup, as the additional visibility from Europe (even the EL) is much greater on the international stage than winning the League Cup.
I'm not ITK in any way, but during the stadium build I read everything posted on SSC and a number of posters with great knowledge of the internal running of football/sport clubs commented on stadium sponsorships and things spilled out into sponsorships generally. The consensus was that achievements on the pitch equalled additional money from sponsors and shirt manufacturers . We must have done very well out of the CL run and I'd expect that making a final of any competition would be likely to trigger something. I don't see Levy missing a trick on such things. Reward for progress and Achievement is central to his management style.
