One of the nicest men you could wish to meet and incredibly modest too. I feel very lucky to have met him a couple of times & also his wife & grandson. He enjoyed chatting & I had the pleasure of telling him he was the best manager we'd ever had to which he shook his head in a no,no no mode I think that was 1982 when we won the cup with Keith Burkenshaw who was also a really nice guy. I was lucky enough to be at the reception after the bus parade which is where my avatar was taken. Clive was so patient 'cos this was pre digital cameras & the prehistorical flash bulbs kept failing. It took at least three bulbs but we got there in the end. I still have that CF programme, signed by all the team, Bill N & Chas & Dave. I have many photos of everyone there including me holding up the CUP. Lovely, happy days, I could ramble on for hours
Come with me And you'll be In a world of pure Hotspurification ...that should guarantee my place on a few Not606 cringe compilations
I got a reminder earlier that I was on holiday in the lake district 32 years ago this week, Which got me thinking, we went to Bloomfield Road that week to see Blackpool v Northampton we got in all 4 of us for a fiver through a side gate. That was first league match that I went to. I have now been to about 500 and visited 38 different grounds. There are only 3 league teams that I haven't seen live, 2 of them have only been in the league for a short time Forest Green and Salford and the other is Liverpool.
You will be able to go up there on the 'Skywalk' from next summer........Me? I'll be staying on terra firma.
It's not really something I was aware of until yesterday, when as a result of reminiscing about the trip to Blackpool, we started to compare notes on where we had been and who we had and hadn't seen. I think that I have documented here before that I have attended more Gills matches than Spurs, hence seeing all the lower league clubs who have been in the league for more than 2 years (and a few who have gone by the wayside), so I haven't deliberately avoided Liverpool, but just not been in the right place at the right time, and no cup ties for the scousers in Kent!
Seems as good reason as any Could also be that neither Spurs or the Gills have ever played a competitive fixture with Forest Green (or Salford)
