Weakness is similar to the mens, centre mid we don't have any control. Our number 8 really showed it a few times when decent passes out from defence went past her because she was facing them rather than being on the half-turn and couldn't react quick enough to run on to it. Poor coaching really, should've been hammered out. Lets hope there's a Harriet Winks waiting in the sidelines to come in.
No snap to the play, no pace and no apparent tactics. It was all slow and in front of the USA, barring a few moments. Whenever the ball was moved quickly and switched into wide areas, they struggled. Other than that, they looked extremely comfortable. Hopefully the profile of the tournament will get more women and girls involved and the standard will improve.
I disagree about the penalty. Correct in my book, the defender deliberately ran in behind the forward to prevent the clean contact, she was out of position and couldn't get in front to stop the attempt so put herself where contact was unavoidable. No attempt to play the ball so red card as well.
I've now concluded what changes are needed to the offside laws, particularly to simplify it for VAR. In the spirit of the offside law, it is there because one gains an unfair advantage. The only part of your body which can gain an advantage is your feet, i.e. currently you can be sparco on the ground with your head in an offside position and still be given offside, what advantage do you get there? Fek all. So it should be determined on feet position. So I think at least one foot should be Clearly offside before offside is given, that means the whole foot, not part of it. And, if one really wants to spice up the game, perhaps both feet should have to be clearly offside before an offside is given. That would improve the game, reduce offside decisions and be easier to administer with VAR.
If your lead leg is at least half a stride beyond the defensive line, IMHO you are offside. Similarly for your body, in the case of a header that leads to a goal.
Change number one: it applies to all teams, no matter which part of Merseyside they happen to be from
Kind of agree with you. If that offside last night against the mousers at klanfield apart from the flying pigs, the ref would have needed an SAS escort backed up by RAF tornados to get out of the stadium alive.
The scum front page today shows Dele being "assisted" back to his hotel by minders after a session, this ****house rag will not stop until it has ruined another young footballers career
Lampard to Chelsea. Well,he's got nothing to lose and will probably be overpaid......good luck to gamblers!
1. The legend that is Levy grows ever larger. 2. Perhaps Levy said to Perez the ONLY Madrid player he would allow the Goons to buy if Bale was to sign, was Ozil (in which case : < omni-Levy > ) .
I think you have to watch this with an open mind and avoid any comparison with the men's game. If we separate the genders in sport, this is elite football. If we don't, this is a Sunday league kick about and should be judged as such. Modern society is in a quandary over how it wants us to approach the issue. That aside, the standard of football is poor and that makes it hard to enjoy as a spectacle.
My daughter in law is involved with a local ladies football club and has had 25+ extra girls turn up for training this month since the WWC, importantly young teenagers who are usually put off sports at that time of their lives , if only a third of the girls stick with it the club and football will benefit
