I'm reading "Brave New World" the story of Poch. Like me,his nightmare is Newcastle 5 Spurs !. He says, he should have seen it coming. He should have sensed that some of theSpurs players were already on holiday and others were thinking of the Euros. He thinks the players were unconcerned about finishing 3rd instead of 2nd and letting Arsenal finish above them. I thought you got medals for second not third.
You must have left early and missed the 2nd goal ... we won 2 nil (Crooks and Hoddle)...was on The Big Match on the Sunday afternoon with Brian Moore.
Just had faith in humanity restored. Some of the lads on here who post on the Prem board know that my Grandad died a couple months back so my Nan's been living alone since (he died at 92, she'll be 91 this year and they were together since 17 and 16). Anyway, her back garden fence has needed replacing for a good while now as it's on the verge of collapsing and we just haven’t been able to sort the time yet to get it done. Just got a call from my Mum as she's gone round to see her today and said as she got round she heard banging and noises out back. As she went outside, my Nan's new neighbours had knocked down the fence and were building a new one (which apparently looks amazing). My Mum knocked on their door and asked to please let her pay for the work, they initially refused and said it was for their benefit just as much as my Nan's and eventually my Mum managed to persuade them to let her pay halves. Sometimes people can be decent human beings.
I like the fact that DH has had his faith restored in humanity by a decent fence. It's true, you just never know when you are going to need a decent fence. Hope you don't mind the joke DH I think your story of decent neighbours for your Nan is heartwarming
Just a quick reminder that season ticket holders have to get their ticket for the Ajax home game by 5pm today. It's not part of the Automatic Cup Scheme, for some reason, so a few people might get taken by surprise.
Happy Birthday Jan EDIT: Anyone with a twitter account reply to Toby and ask him to stay, quite a few of us have already done that.
Signed. That should do it! Edit: We need Vertonghen to sign also. Doesn't he have only 15 months or so left?
So City beat Utd, Utd then beat Chelsea we need to win only 1 more game for 4th. If Arsenal wouldn't mind losing to Wolves AND Leicester away, then 1 win gets us third and we can play U21 teams against Bournemouth and Everton if still involved in CL (and beat the Hammers). Obviously none of those things will happen now.
Yeah he does. Although he’ll be 33 at the end of next season so I think one of two things will happen: He’ll sign a new 1 or 2 year deal. Or he’ll leave to rejoin Ajax as I’m sure I’ve read he’d love to finish his career back there.
I’m fairly sure he’ll go back to Ajax at some point, you’re right he’s definitely been quoted that he wants to do that. More power to him. Hopefully he gives us a few more years, maybe we extend him a year then let him go for free. Would be a decent gesture for a player coming towards the end of his career who has given us the majority of his prime years as a player.
Was that the first ever televised league match? I vaguely remember going to a 2-0 vs Forest and there was a mini Chas & Dave concert before the game.
Luckily it's no other member of our current squad's birthday, or they might be feeling left out Uh oh...
