Things to make Spurs fans sleep easier than the last 24 hours of the transfer window, number one: following the recommendations of this video

  2. Pains me to say it, but the Chavs have got an upgrade on their keeper (for a Kepa <laugh>) AND have got Kovacic on loan for the season - that's good business!! :headbang:

    Oooops wrong thread <doh>

Thanks. I have many stories concerning our old heroes. I was very lucky at WHL, had a box in posh west stand, then did corporate with seats. It was my own business so I treated myself. Started off on the shelf in the 70's. Im good friends with Phil Beal and Pat Jennings now, I've had drunken rows with Paul Walsh, Darren Anderton and cut short Glenn Hoddle mid convo (bit boring in real life), had a salad lunch with Ruel Fox, had several meetings with both the sugars, spent a lot of time in the Oak Room getting to know the players old and current. I had Jerry ****ing Stringer steal my seat when I was 5 mins late and ended up sitting behind Gordon Strachen in the directors box watching make notes. John Pratt, bless him, was always pissed on match days and by the time we decamped to Valentinos at 10ish ( next to the ground) a few heroes turned into just blokes who were pissed and a little bitter. Our beloved club has not been too kind to our ex players in the past. Pat Jennings has told me so many gems that never made the press regarding the real insides of the club not that long ago. All priceless stuff. I also made a presentation to Phil Beal and Pat Jennings on Phil's birthday giving him a frame phot of his only goal in a spurs shirt. Unfortunately it was at the wrong end and even the great Pat couldnt reach it. A word about Phil Beal, this man has played in the same team as Pele, Bobby Moore and Beckenbauer. Is way up there in Club appearances yet Ive never met such an unassuming gentle fella. He sells insurance. How the game has changed. Not better, not worse, just different. I could write a book about what Ive heard and seen. John Pratt was escorted out of valentinos after the corner pin for causing an affray. He didnt hit anyone but was off his head, glasses everywhere and reasonably out of control. All suited up but his tie at half mast. You can probably imagine it.

Try that again, as I'd be interested in the answer.
And, more importantly, do you know Barry Daines and whether he posts on here?

Yeah, Ive got to know a lot of the girls in corporate office. I missed out our Wembley trips but am in the process of securing new stadium corp. So the last few seasons at WHL were a little different as there's much less drinking and much more corporate jobs for the players. Have met and chatted at length with Harry, Delli, Danny Rose ( not a happy fella) but to honest the last few seasons at WHL has all gone a bit 'professional'. I once got pissed in the wast stand boxholders bar with Ginola, Domingues and Ramon Vega..... and they all smoked. Can you imagine that now. New stadium, will be very different. I am working on my all areas pass blag as we speak. I have polite chats with Poch and he really is a nice fella. His English has always been very very good. The translating thing at Southampton was a tactic.

Did you know Big Chiv? When I worked for Mark Anderson our environmental guys used to do a lot of work with him, he was involved with Asbestos removal. Come to think of it you probably know Mark, I think he was always the first one in the Oak room.

I came across Chivers in the mid 80s. He was running a Pub/Hotel - Brookmans Park in Hertfordshire. Could barely order my drink I was so overcome.

Chiv, bless him, funny thing though, I gradually found out that THFC in reality is no different from any local pub team. The players fall out, bitch about eachother etc. The Falco's, beals, pratts, Gilly, etc didnt like the Chiv. When he got the half time mc gig he became too big for his boots and stopped doing the rounds in the bars etc. The 70's players also had no time for Hoddle either. Said he was an arrogant sod even back in the day. Greavsie vowed never to set foot back in the place after a run in with sugar, Sugar was also responsible for throwing away a Bill Nick bust from the board room to everyones disgust. A builder retreived it from a skip. It's just like sunday league. Not so bad nowadays, but a little resentment with Harry as it seems he can do no wrong.

Oh and literally from the horses mouth. Pat has told me he never wanted to go to Arsenal. He had to, to save the club ala Gazza. Blame T Neil as well. Pat said he couldnt wait to come back to his spiritual home. I say this because there is still a couple of generations of goons that claim Pat as their own.

This would have been 2006 or 2007 when Chiv was into the Asbestos removal.

My bar was the Steve Perryman lounge / the Hotspur suite. Only a small affair corner of west stand and Park lane, just above the away end. Loved raising a glass to them. We used to close early and decamp in the Oak room with the spurs staff. BTW, can you believe Steve Perryman, our longest serving player had to pay for a table at his own Lounge?? Another pissed off legend. When he was going through his japanese travel pahse every other week his table was full of potential japanese players. We signed one if my memory is still intact. He also had to pay for the corner flag hire for his testimonial. He's still bitter.

one of my best memories was while having a fag and beer with Ginola, Domingues and Vega. It was at Darvid's book signing bash, and close season when he didnt know if he was going to be sold. He was very pissed and kept calling George Graham a ****. hearing tiny Jose repeat it was hilarious, he looked about 12. Sorry for the swearing mod.
