If the sides from the 1960's were brought up to the fitness levels of the current players, which they clearly were not IMO, then I still think our current side would give them a very good game.
We could be looking at the best Spurs side ever, right now.
I would therefore boost the positions of all the current players for that reason.

Who actually was the worst Spurs buy? Was it that Brazilian left back.......?
Gilberto? Largely ****, but he cost less than £2m and he was injured for ages.
Still scored in a 4-0 win against West Ham, though.
They were singing, "You're ****, cos it's not 4-0", when it was only 2-0. Oops.

As the other list was 25 – here is a list of 25 of the worst buys (in the premier league era)

1. David Bentley
2. Darren Bent
3. Paulinho
4. Vlad Chiriches
5. Sergei Rebrov
6. Federico Fazio
7. Helder Postiga
8. Bobby Zamora
9. Calum Davenport
10. Grzegorz Rasiak
11. Giovani Dos Santos

20. Kevin Scott
21. Jason Cundy
22. Ben Alnwick
23. Ricardo Rocha
24. John Bostock
25. Roberto Soldado

These are in no particular order and not necessarily bad players some had good careers elsewhere but either just didn’t do it for Spurs or were just the wrong player at the wrong time, I am sure that there are others that some of you would consider ahead of these. Soldado is last on the list (and could it have been Jansen), because I liked him, but in the end the fee we paid meant he had to deliver but I am placing him on the list with a heavy heart.

It’s a really slow day at work today so sitting here ploughing through my memory banks for some of these names has helped the time pass a little quicker! I hope some of these names don't give you nightmares!

Off the top of my head I'd go (on alphabetical order, to save me six hours of my life...)

Wasn't Bentley involved with Arsenal when young.Seems we have managed to sign on some absolute crap from Arsenal over the years with good players going to them! Robertson for Jenkins being one of them. A couple of managers too.
Not to mention a certain Herbert Chapman...........

Surprising win for Leeds in the Grand Final.
This is where the play-off system seems unfair. Castleford were the best team over a long season and finished top of the league. Why then end it with a knockout competition to decide the championship?

First Grand Final I have missed for a long time, due to Shaun Wane and the mighty Wigan having a stinker of a season from March onwards.

Castleford have been a breath of fresh air this season and they fully deserved their success, although this evening they were always second best to a decent Leeds side.

Yes, the system is flawed. I think the highest placed club used to be able to choose their opponents in the play offs, which again left itself open to criticism.

Brian is right, it's all about money, more games, more Sky coverage equals more cash.

How long before we have the Big 6 'Champions Trophy' with games to be played in China, US, UAE at the end of the season?

Why stop at the 39th game? If you played games 39, 40 and for each of the 'mini league' winners, game 41, the big clubs could really clean up. **** the game, players and the fans, pay us. You heard it here first......

Andrea Pirlo has announced he will retire at the end of the year, which is as good an excuse as any to remember the time he bitchslapped Joe Hart in front of 64,000 people and was (rightly) proclaimed a genius for doing so...

Which is why England regularly fail at international level.
Chelski have one of the best youth teams and contribute to the England youth teams but those same players don't develop as they could because Chelski won't sell those players to top clubs nor will they play them in their own team.
I've said it a bunch of times before and I'll say it again: any prospect signing with Chelsea's youth team has as much common sense and self-respect why would any prospect sign with Chelsea's youth team? Surely by now it should be clear that not only is their path to the first team blocked by the team chucking £30m+ at any problem, but the hoovering up of prospects around the world has added a second barrier between them and first team football.

Anyone in that setup is as likely to make 100 appearances for the first team as an Apprentice candidate is going to make the Fortune 500.
Coutinho on the FIFA Ballon D'Or short-list.

I assume that is so FIFAbet (TM) can mop up
the bounty that is the Mouser punter.
It's purely to Barca's benefit: when he (inevitably) not only fails to make the shortlist but his invitation to the ceremony gets lost in the post, Barca can say they'd have got him into the VIP area...I mean into the top three.
