Yes: the frontmen of two of the ****test bands to have ever existed, the third-best Bond, the poor man's Melissa McCarthy, and Lembit Opik https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_2#Births
It's 40 years since Alfie Conn left Spurs. To cheer myself up I watched this......... ....at 1 min 35 seconds Alfie indicates an affection for Nescafe. Loved him.
Speaking of former Celtic players, RIP Lisbon Lion Tommy Gemmell It's still staggering to think that Celtic won the European Cup with a team made up entirely of Glaswegians, except Bobby Lennox, who was from Saltcoats 30 miles away.
Great memories - thanks for posting! Loved the reaction - he would have got a 3 match ban for obscene behaviour these days Was at that game - standing over the tunnel. Have a feeling that was also the game that sparked some of the worst violence inside the ground that I ever saw, but it might have been the following year. However, that video did confirm a few things: 1. Pat was the greatest keeper of all time 2. Alfie Conn would have made a great Hagrid with that haircut 3. The Chavs were a dirty bunch of twats and.......... 4. Mickey Droy was the ugliest ****er ever!!
Back in the 60's and 70's every English Division 1 team had 2 or 3 top Scottish players as well as their top teams being very good and free of imports. The decline since has been enormous. Some of that team made its way down south at the end of their careers. I remember seeing the Willie's - Wallace and Johnstone and Bobby Murdoch in the mid-70's. I recall Gemmell being at Forest but don't recall seeing him play.
Gosh. That takes me back.Several of favourites....Pat,of course, John Duncan, always liked him,Alfie, shame he was homesick for Scottish porrage and Brian Moore,my favourite commentator, excited by being at Tottenham!.....as usual!
The thing that gets me is that, while most Premier League academies have Welsh or Irish players in their academies, there's a distinct shortage of Scottish players there. A quick check on Wikipedia breaks it down like this: Spurs - one Irish Arsenal - one Irish, one Scot Chelsea - one Welsh, one Irish, three Scots (and like **** any of them will ever see the first team...) West Scam - four Irish Crystal Palace - one Irish Everton - five Welsh, three Irish, one Northern Irish, two Scots Liverpool - six Welsh, four Irish, one Scot Man Utd - one Welsh, one Irish Man City - one Welsh Middlesbrough - one Scot Sunderland - four Irish West Brom - four Irish Leicester - one Northern Irish Swansea - twelve Welsh, one Irish, six Scots Bournemouth - two Irish, one Scot Southampton - four Irish, one Scot That totals 31 Irish, 26 Welsh, and 16 Scots - and over a third of those are in Swansea's academy, and that's something I find baffling.
So Ken Dodd got his knighthood today - which reminds me of George Carman's great line to jury during Dodd's tax fraud trial. "Some accountants are comedians, but comedians are never accountants."
Where's me shirt? I can't do anything without me shirt! How yer diddling,Missus? Do they still speak like this on Merseyside?
Hugo. Definitely my favourite Frenchman, bar none. Odile Versois WAS my favourite Frenchwoman.Passed at 50 in 1980.Darned shame!
Apparently this is next season's away kit please log in to view this image I don't think FA rules will allow us to take to the pitch in a sarong...
