Gerrard can play until the next euros unless Shelvey steps up and replaces him.

Gerrard a skid mark? what a ******. He's been one of the best players of the season and made PFA team of the year. His passing is still pinpoint accurate and he's still a dynamo. Please don't throw him into the same category as Fat Frank, who is 2 years older than Gerrard and not fit to lace his boots

Do you know what ****** means?

Gerrard has never done it for England. His form just hasn't transferred to internationals.

No one's form transfers to internationals! apart from **** players who are slightly lifted by being around talented players.
England managers are notoriously defensive and dull, sven - yes. Capello - yes. Owl face - yes.

I know he's somewhat of a God in the red half of merseyside but just because some people don't share the Gerrard obsession is no reason to start flinging around insults. I'll leave it at that, you won't change my mind and it wouldn't be possible to change a mouser's opinion on Gerrard if you employed Jack Bauer torture techniques.

Gerrard, like so many of them, has never delivered for England in tournament finals themselves.
Hence the hilarity of the "golden generation" (yeah, only in their bank accounts) .

They've not delivered because the players around them haven't been good enough - which has often been Gerrard's problem at Liverpool too. To be successful at international level, you need

    - centre backs who read the game well, can carry the ball forward from defence and distribute it and are usually quick
    - midfielders who can retain possession, one of whom is adept at receiving the ball deep and distributing it and one who can play short passes accurately into the spaces between the opposition defenders (like Spain have in abundance)
-quick forwards who can find a yard of space, with good close control and score regularly

England don't have these players. Our defence is vulnerable to pace or skill, our midfield can't retain the ball and has no creativity and we rely on Rooney to be that type of forward we need, yet he ends up dropping deep and trying to be the creative midfielder we need.

It's nothing to do with how good players like Gerrard and Rooney can be individually, but everything to do with the overall lack of quality in the team.

"It's nothing to do with how good players like Gerrard and Rooney can be individually"

Everything to do about good players fronting up to carry their team beyond whatever their
sum/average mediocrity is. These players haven't even fronted up when there were good
team-mates alongside them, let alone when there wasn't.

    can't see an image SD.

is this the home shirt with all the under armour "I will" branded advertising that's been popping up on twitter today? (red AIA sponsor on the front)

If so, it's a real shame that the AIA sponsor is red. It'd be a cracking shirt if it was blue.

Yes. Mind you, I can't see it now! Was a good shirt apart from, as you say, the red lettering of the sponsor.

Anyone know if there is highlights of the U17 game going on the web?

It'd be nice to see footage of an England team winning something this summer...
