I bet he would not!He would have a center forward(who scores goals) and two wingers. He would not put up with the sideways and backwards crap we keep seeing today!
Lost 4-1,kiddy are a good side and i would not be suprised if they get into the league this season.not to downhearted, not as if we had a chance to win it,but we made some money which is life blood to non league teams.Kiddy fans are saying Sutton are a good side who should get promotion this year.Nice to see Kyle Vassell getting a lot of exposure on ITV yesterday, this time last season,he was in the Sutton side.now on his way to posh,it seems
The results of our POTM for October make for interesting reading: 1st - Vlad Chiriches 2nd - Jan Vertonghen 3rd - Andros Townsend
When we won the UEFA cup against Wolves our front six was Mullery, Perryman, Peters, Coates, Gilzean, Chivers. Compared with today, a reasonable match in midfield, one holding, one box to box and one creative, one winger and two centre-forwards. The best match AVB could field today would be Sandro, Paulinho, Eriksen, Lennon, Soldado, Adebayor. the bench was interesting: 12 Ray Evans 13 Barry Daines 14 Terry Naylor 15 John Pratt 16 Jimmy Pearce A goalie, full back, centre half, holding midfielder and a winger! The only sub made was to take off Coates (a winger) and replace him with Pratt (a defensive midfielder) just after we took the lead at Molineux in the first leg - one straight out of the AVB playbook! Wolves promptly equalised but we got a second near the end.
That looks not unlike some of the line-ups Jol used - especially having a central midfielder (Eriksen) on the wing, which regularly happened with Davids, Pedro Mendes, Tainio and Murphy.
Only Coates played wide really. Gilzean and Peters went out there sometimes but the main width came from Cyril Knowles and Joe Kinnear on the overlap.
If he has signed for Posh, then you can bet he will be given a chance to play. Barry Fry has an excellent reputation for finding young talent in non league and Darren Ferguson then has the balls to pick the youngsters Fry has found.
He was causing them a few problems yesterday, then got a knock, but he has pace to burn and a knack of scoring
He was a good player for us was Joe and a popular player as well. But that was over 40 years ago and now he is a fat foul mouthed idiot.
Now we have seen more of his personality, you can see how he moulded the crazy gang at wimbledon into what they where, brash, dirty, loud, foul mouthed and on their day a complete and utter pain!
Ever since Gary Lineker incurred the wrath of Vinnie Jones, the BBC always made an effort to say he was changing them from a one-dimensional Route One team...to one that used Route One every third attack instead of every single attack.
I remember how often Kinnear was linked to us, the plan was he sign Dean Holdsworth and bring a nasty side to the lane, to go with the craft of Jason Dozzell! mouth watering prospect but sadly never happened!
Kinnear was touting himself for the job wasn't he ?? I seem to remember him shouting his mouth off about how he was suited to the job.
He was desperate to manage us, I guess he saw himself as a Spurs man because of his time at the club. Lucky for us we got gerry Francis and as mentioned, George graham!
I have a new nomination for poorest pundit. David James on BT is awful. Looks disinterested, grins like a Cheshire Cat and is wearing orange trousers tonight on the Shortwood v Port Vale game.
