Totally agree. Other than the occasion and the opposition it was a better goal. I can't remember anything as good since maybe the Le Tissier/Yeboah era and even then i'm not sure.

Not a good start in the game either, but those 2 worldies knocked the stuffing out of Palace. 2 wins is a confidence boost for them, but their next 3 PL games are horrors, Soton away, United at home and Pool away. i would not be surprised if they find themselves back down in the hole they've just pulled themselves out of. I never thought he was much kop then, so I was astonished to see him still there when CP got promoted this time. He's survived more than a few different managers in that time, so have you any idea what I'm missing there, as he didn't look PL standard then and still doesn't. Argentina aren't renowned for decent keepers either! Made me think also how many keepers there are that are 10+ years at the same club, not many would be my answer without checking anything.

That is an interesting debate. Van Bastens was a tighter angle, so does that counter Kasami? Forgetting the occasion/importance and going purely technical for the moment, I agree with you, there's more technical element to that goal than MvB's imo. Kasami started his run from the halfway line as 2nd favourite to get to the ball anyway. To then chest a ball dropping over your shoulder to then drop exactly 2 strides in front, so you can volley it on the run has more parts to it that can go wrong. All that with close attention from a defender. Without taking anything away from vB's having jus watched it again on Y'tube, its a gentle unattended jog into the box and a straight volley. Kasami for me, but YV touches on a good point about fashionability, the pundits nearly had a quick one off the wrist on camera creaming themselves over the purity of RVP's volley last season.
DL has started a thread on the Chelsea board on the No.10 position. I wonder if it has occurred to him what problem they are storing up by having (in his opinion) 4 of the best No10's in the country, and 3 of the best in the world. Quite surprised Willian doesn't get in. What do people think of this list? Would Eriksen and/or Holtby get above any of these. I suspect they will by the end of the season, but I accept they are still unproven. By the same criteria, De Bruyne doesn't get in for me, neither yet does Coutinho. But who would take their place?
putting De Bruyn in there is a joke. Michu is better in the no10 role than Coutinho (who could end up being better), Mirallis, De Bruy and Kagawa (at the moment)
Where's Michu in his PL list. Would you call Tevez an outright CF or a No.10? In his world list where's Neymar? Brazil play Fred, Hulk or even Jo as CF, Neymar,s given a free, as is Messi. I don't think he's clarified the criteria of 'No.10' as there are MF'ers that can play there and forwards. De Bruyne is a ****ing joke inclusion, I'd argue Aston Villa's Weimann as better than him, never mind Eriksen.
Di Maria is a wide man mid No-10. ....all this concludes what I have always said, DL knows **** all about football, just regurgitates **** he reads without any understanding really.
I think what he meant was creative players in advanced areas, otherwise Bale would surely make the World list and Rooney and Michu the PL list. Still not sure why Mirallas is there though, he looks like a winger/forward to me. No Gotze and Sneijder surprised me most though, they typify the kind of player he was talking about. As I pointed out in my reply, there are different types of number 10s, there are creative ones like Sneijder/Oscar, direct ones like Bale/Michu and plenty in between like your Ozils, Mullers and Hazards, etc. The main thing is that the creativity is being spreadout across the team more often now. It's more often that you see wide players playing with the freedom to go inside and get involved with play, rather than always going down the line and putting in crosses. Holding midfielders that can't pass are becoming less tolerated and the fullbacks are increasingly providing the width.

Speroni didn't play in the prem, they had that hungarian muppet that liked to play in his pj's. He is actually a quality keeper, and probably there best player over the last few years. Certainly up there with Ambrose, Zaha and Jed.
Speroni is a very good keeper,surprised he wasn't snapped up by a premier team,he's a lot better than Gomes,and he made the P/L
The only Palace fan that I know has raved about Speroni for years. Never seen enough of him to judge, unfortunately.
Hazard and de bruyne wouldn't be in that list, unless you're a Chelsea fan so you can't take it that seriously. Hazard isn't even a number 10, nor is reus, who is one of my favourite players yet he's more of an inside forward and you can't have players like hazard or reus on a list with Iniesta or silva in terms of them being comparable players in a cultured creative sense.
Half right mate, but Speroni was that bad in his first few PL games he was dropped for Kiraly the Hungarian. "Speroni only started the first six games for his newly promoted team in their Premier League campaign before he was replaced by Hungarian international Gábor Király after some poor performances." He was player of the season for them.....in the Championship, which is my point, good Championship keeper but not PL.
