Suggestion to make the referees' jobs easier. Players get a yellow card if they appeal for any decision.
No we want them to react to what they see, not being under constant pressure from cheats who appeal even when they know they are wrong.
Two cases in point where refs got decisions right and VAR supported them... But overlooked clear simulation by the players concerned. Tonali yesterday for Newcastle against City and Pau Torres for Villa against Ipswich today. Both went down as if they had been shot in the head, trying to blag penalties...
After being on the this site all through and after the match ,I tried to log on again and got a " 403 forbidden code " that would not allow me to log on , a quick browse of Google and found if you turned Flight mode on and off it would clear the fault ,which it did , never had this happen before
I had that for a while. Decided to have a cup of tea and an early season mince pie and it seemed to work again....
Watch: Referee awards two bizarre penalties for handball - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/videos/cn4z8jzz3ero
The footage starts too late to clearly see what happened in the first one, but the second is good use of the advantage. No idea why the defender thought he'd just pick it up. I assume the first was similar, too.
I assumed that in the first one the goalie had it in his hands but the defender somehow thought it was a goal kick....
I can't find any footage of what lead up to it, but that definitely looks like what happened. Brainfart.
