Just ban them for selling in the UK for it (as a German auto maker they are already sh*tting themselves should the UK ever decide to go WTO rules with the EU) .
The worst thing is BMW announced similar a month or two ago, so Mercedes had the chance of saying they wouldn't lock the top performance behind a paywall and steal a march on their most direct competitor Instead they fell in lockstep with them, which means I now have to work out which is EA and which is Activision
This afternoon I have received 17 calls all from different numbers ,robo calls, after the first 2 I have let them ring out and then blocked and reported , I can't turn the phone off as I need to be on call, any ideas what I can do ? Registered with TPS but I'm told it can take days before it comes into effect
I take it my usual method is answer it, launch a string of invective down the line and hang up isn't a viable option...?
17 is a huge amount, far too many IMHO to be statistically random. My suspicion is that it is the same source, who I doubt are are TPS-conformant entities anyway. If they are are generating random dest numbers, your best hope is their systems mark you as a "dead number" after so many attempted calls. There are cell phone number blocker apps, but I do not know what they do with the telephony interface (can they suppress the "ring" outputs while a blocked source is calling etc) .
It finally ended at 31 calls , each one a different number and I blocked and reported each number , I briefly listened to the first message before hanging up and can't remember what the call was about . I treated it as a challenge but on a serious note this could have been a problem to someone in a vulnerable condition , spoke to my mobile provider whose only answer was to turn the device off
Sadly, by answering you have explicitly indicated that the called number is "live" . That means their system will potentially put your number on a list, and you will get calls from them in the future (the umpteen different numbers is probably an attempt to bypass any dest blocker function) . If you are inclined / able to do so, give me the list of numbers, and I will do some cursory analysis on them. FYI, in tech terms the solution to this is quite trivial (someone such as me would have a working sys done in a couple of days) . The problem is that it would require govt regulation to install such systems into telephony networks (the operators will always "cry foul" on CAPEX/OPEX) .
Thanks for the help RDBD, I only had a few left on my phone as I was deleting after I blocked and reported them , here are some of those not deleted 07540 819601 , 07540 737793 , 07540 191587 , 07540 836106 , 07540710683 , 07540 894362 07855 651339 , 07855 628594 , 07855 688084 , 07855 632011 , 07855 663815 , 07855 694555 The calls started on the 07855 numbers then after 12 calls moved on to the 07540 numbers
I assume all of the incoming calls were cell network numbers (I was expecting "land line" numbers but there you go) . I will do an MNO check on those numbers (at least to see if the blocks are all registered on the same network) . For any that you answered, were they machine / human pre-recorded, or an actual person ??
It seems that one block of numbers are registered to one MNO, and the other block to another. I assume those numbers are on "prepaid" SIMs. Perhaps UK law needs to be that mass marketing stuff needs to show a CLI that is a UK "land line" to which if called must be answerable by a person. Not too educated on modern telephony protocols, but I will see whether "CNAM" is supported on current cell networks.
What's more concerning is that there don't appear to be any stewards or security within a country mile of him. Swap corner flag for knife and that goalkeeper would be leaving the stadium in an ambulance, if not a body bag. Shocking.
