Many thanks to all for the good wishes.

I didn't quite manage naked pagan dancing but Mrs B and I did go swimming in the sea in our underwear, having completely forgotten to bring swimming apparel. It's been a few years since we've done that...

Yes, alcohol may have been involved...<laugh>

Her maiden name, Rachel Peters, inspired a bunch of Mason-Peters comments, too.

Happy Birthday,Brian.Been in hospital and moved as well to Richmond,Ky.What an experience! Had diareah for four weeks. The removers left all my electrics at the old house,Took two weeks to bring them to my new house via friends. Spectrum then screwed me up before they connected everything....and I now have a cable running across the back garden and they can't bury it for a week or so.It wouyld be hilairious if it wasn't so serious! I'm 81 now and this shouldn't happen to a "retired" Spurs fan. My 61 year old lady friend has saved me going nuts.....and she wants to get married!!!!!!!

    Thanks, Smithy.

Good to hear from you and that you're well (well enough to entertain a woman 20 years your junior, at least)...although in danger of being electrified...<yikes>

Kentucky...sounds like it would be very beautiful. I've been a student of the Civil War since watching a fabulous documentary series on PBS...but having driven the entire length of the West Coast, gone inland to Vegas, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc. and New York and a fair bit of New England, I've not yet hit the old South.

I'm very much intending to see Memphis, New Orleans, etc. and Kentucky would definitely be on the list. Mrs B's retiring next year, so it shouldn't be too long now...

It's the same here...but we're not self-sufficient in fuel or food.

Whilst 'ordinary people' will be starving and freezing to death this winter, it'll be 'turn up the heating' and 'roast swan on brioche' for anyone connected with this government...whilst they claim that "we're all in this together" again.

Such a shame that such a wonderful country with so much variety of terrain, scenery, wild life etc has such sh1t, power crazy, gun toting, political lunatics.

I've only ever been to Florida, several times, and that was beautiful enough for me.

Thanks. I had a great day. Outside of school holidays and with some decent weather, I'm a big fan of British seaside resorts. Mrs B and I love Ayr and Port Rush/PortStewart and I drove along the South Wales coast a couple of weeks ago and it was stunning.

I spent my childhood holidays in caravans in Cornwall or the South Coast...and a cold beer and some freshly cooked fish and chips on the beach is my preferred way to spend my special day...every year.

As much as I love my holidays abroad I look forward mostly to my days away with the grandkids and family at a UK seaside holiday , nothing better than the late afternoon warm sun , a decent pint of local ale and fish and chips or fresh seafood
West Wittering is a family favourite, many happy hours spent at the Shore Inn
