Welcome aboard BillyBob. As for wanting the team to get beat, regardless of the comp or your thoughts on the comp is pretty stupid. But from what I saw, Bilbao looked a very good side and made us look very average. Oh well, back to the league.
I personally think this site is much better, has more mature posters and you get on with everyone else as long as you make sensible posts. But I should recommend you stay away from General Chat.
Thanks for the welcome! As for your post, yes there are positives that United are out, i.e. they can now concentrate on the league, but you could say that about competing and losing in the CL, CC and FA Cup. For me, sure it is not the end of the world, but it is another competition/trophy that United have lost out on and the negatives that come with that fact far outweigh any positives. ------------------- Alan, Thanks for the advice mate.
Haven't seen a United side owned like that since, er, they last played a Spanish side and were too scared to cross halfway. 2 wins in 19; SAF just can't get to grips with Spanish sides
The Spanish league table is slightly misleading. Valencia are third, but they would've been much more straightforward to play against. And Levante in fifth are overachieving after a very good start. Athletic are one of a new breed of teams playing a new style of pressing football, based on the Barcelona model but adapted to suit their own system and their own level of ability. Napoli and Dortmund are similar, and these teams will continue to rise so long as they can keep their best players and visionary coaches. English teams have pressed for years, but this is pressing with a plan and a method, and they're making the English look ever more like headless chickens. I think that English club performance in Europe will decline over the next few years. City right now are way too ponderous, and would not compete with the energy of a side like Athletic.
Fair comment. Pep Guardiola was mentored by the Athletic manager Marcelo Bielsa so they are in fact adopting his tactics rather than the converse being the case.
I'm not sure why you're getting annoyed, but it certainly wasn't my intention. You just have a very similar style of posting. Don't mean nothing by it man
I never want my team to lose but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say you didn't deserve to go into the next round. Credit to Bilbao. All the best.
Not if losing helps us win the title against our most hated rivals That's the point if we were out of the title race, then yes its worth winning, however it is like the rumbelows cup
1-0 down against Valencia at HT. Subdued performance so far, both their main strikers are missing. Spanish games are way less intense during the day.
Lost 3-0 at home. Disappointing performance, never really got going. They're still in 7th, could drop to 8th depending on other results. 4 points off 4th and 10 points behind Valencia in third.
