Think of it another way. Put a light rider on a heavy bike v light bike. Which is going to perform better ?

Light rider on a light bike. Only time I've ridden with a light rider he was sat at the top of the hill for 20 mins waiting for me.
I'm not exactly built like a climber <laugh>

all about w/kg. I refer you back to my earlier comment. Don’t shift the goalposts now.

The goalposts aren't moving mate <laugh>

It's just simple physics. If you have less rolling resistance, then you are able to accelerate faster and slow down quicker.

Yes a lighter rider is always going be more efficient than a heavier rider, but the point I'm making is that both will perform better on a lighter bike.

so weight on a bike, you mean the weight of the bike? Not my perfectly explained w/kg.

    we are both right.

a lighter bike is going to improve the efficiency of both a lighter and heavier rider.

Cba to rake my lycra out but this just appeared on my Google photos thing.
Did the coast to coast a few years back Whitehaven to Sunderland. This is Sunny Sunderland at the end. I've cut the other bike ****ers out as they didn't want people to know they've been to Sunderland.

Done the Whitehaven to Tynemouth route twice. First year a lad rode his bike down the slipway at Whitehaven, slipped and got piss wet through. Last year 10 of us did it in a day, setting off at 4 am. Once out of Penrith there is not much climbing. Bet it was hard on a MTB.

Mtb was OK. My brother in law did it one year on a full suspension downhill bike. He packed in half way through.

Wouldn't enjoy doing it in a day. Was more of a three day piss up for us. Do a few miles, beer, few more miles, beer. On a night slap up meal and more beer. Some of the hills were a struggle. <cheers>

Did it on road bike from a Whitehaven to Tynemouth. There is a more bike path/trail MTB route that looks good. Bit further north than Keswick/Penrith route. Fancy that, bit more relaxed/beer fuelled.
