I understand wanting to rest players but you can't rest so many in one game unless it's the league cup especially when you have so many experienced players missing already. A mistake by RDM for sure....sorry,meant Gourlay.
Yep... but not only are we missing a striker who can come off the bench but a striker who can score from the off! I would love it if we had someone like Dzeko or Hernandez but tbh I'm pretty certain we will get Falcao in January. You've taken the full allocation!? Wow! First time! Should be a great game and atmosphere. It's weird because I'm more confident for that game than I was yesterday going to the Hawthorns. We all knew it would be tough and everyone around me was saying before the game that a point would be a good result. Gutted I can't be there next week... Next one for me is West Ham away. Tbh Sturridge should start from now on ahead of Torres. If he works on his finishing he would have been perfect yesterday. He wasn't selfish and he played better.
But the reasons have been explained? Nobody is blaming solely him for yesterdays result, he's being blamed for not sorting out a top side like ourselves with a decent striker even as a second option and selling/loaning out two perfectly good midfielders leaving us short in two departments.
That's life I'm afraid and symptomatic of human beings in general. Nobody will remember the good things Blair did for the UK as PM, nor will anybody remember the good things Torres has done. I don't blame Gourlay for global warming and every defeat as you make out but I blame him for failing to sign a striker and leaving it till the last minute. Things like that can cost people their jobs. Gourlay is happy to take all the plaudits for the good he does for the club but quick to distance himself when things go wrong and make the manager the scapegoat.
Tense game next Sunday..............1-1 can't see us beating City esp as they have now got their eye in good and proper - damage limitation I fancy although a positive result in Turin would be a massive tonic.
Said at the start of the season, still say today ALL our problems stem from the lack of a midfielder who can run the show. Mikel is doing an excellent job as holder, as are all the other midfielders in attack, be they on the sides or in the middle. Still think Torres will score with proper service, but having difficulty holding on to that opinion. Sturridge for my money should have been gone last year, utterly totally useless. Moses looks much more likely if we drop Torres. We are ****ing around with our defence too much. Cahill and Luiz are too quick for JT or Brana, and gaps are left. One change of approach is enough. In the centre it's either Luiz and Cahill, with Ivan and Cole, or Brana and JT in the centre with Azpi and Bertrand. Youth AND experience, not all of one or the other. No point whingeing about what we should have done, lets get on and fix the problems we have !!!!!!!!
