Can't get hooked since I'm on my own board and you're not #hunterbecomesthehunted please log in to view this image
I thought that thread was made by Raaaul rather than you... But yes, the theme (and the level of the targets) looks familiar.
Exactly! That's why its so frustrating to me. And I personally do feel they (FSG) are getting a bit of an easy ride on the board with all the criticism being directed at Rodgers. How different would our side be if he would've been able to sign half of his first choice transfer targets? Not saying Rodgers is blameless but the transfers might not be all his fault.
Depends what you mean. I think the criticisms aimed at Rodgers are more the players we've bought. The criticisms regarding negotiations and prices paid are generally aimed at Ayre. Besides, how many targets have we missed on recently? Sanchez, Costa, Willian, Herny Ryan, The Plank and Siggi are the ones that spring to mind. Of those, I'm not sure how much more we could have done - Siggi and perhaps Sanchez?
The original tactical genius thread seemed to disappear after United recovered from their slow start. It was replaced by the new but not improved thread which focussed on our difficult run in starting with games (wins) against Spurs, Liverpool and City. Fail upon fail for poor Astro.
We never had a chance with Sanchez. He's on £140k/week at Arsenal and FSG won't start a player on that salary.
tbf the owners have been more than generous handing over the cash, how much more do we expect them to do other than provide the finances? Rodgers picks the targets [with the transfer team or whatever], decides who plays each week, chooses the tactics, granted he can't help he isn't a big name attracting top players but nevertheless that stops us getting better class of player I'm sure. So he does have to face and answer the critics.
Yeah but that's my point. Maybe Rodgers didn't want Lallana as a first choice, maybe his first choice was Depay (example only). How different would that have made our season? Maybe we'd have done even worse or maybe we'd be loads better. As we've seen with Suarez, 1 player can make a huge difference. As for which players we've missed out on. Depay is an obvious recent one, we were too slow to get him. Victor Valdes another one. Players like Salah & Konoplyanka we could've signed if we'd have been quicker. If it was a player here and there I wouldn't be bothered but its seemingly every damn window we lose one of our key targets to a club that just gets the deal done instead of ****ing about.
We got Moreno £4m cheaper by being patient. Salah and others were dodged bullets once other clubs made it a bidding war rather than getting value. We did actually sign Konoplyanka. Their owner simply refused to sign the paperwork to release him.
I thought we turned Valdes down? Salah I agree we missed out on, but not sure how much we could have done - Chelsea had been on him for a while as well. As Astro said, if the owner was refusing to sign the paperwork, there's nothing more we could have done. Depay I'm not sure on; he looked pretty much nailed on for Man U almost since the summer. Our performances on the pitch didn't really make his decision any more difficult, so I guess you can put that down to Rodgers
The difference is that with UIR, poor old Astro has had to open a personal file where he's collected his posts, whereas with Astro's fails you just have to link the complete threads
Considering its mainly astros threads that our manc friends post on I'd say they're far from being the "biggest fails", in fact they are as good as Captain Birdseye for catching fish.
