Agree with ybab about the midfield, that was the weakest area yesterday and surrendered to Sheff Utd, Pritchard was the weak link, I thought this when I saw him in a Cup game earlier this season. I would like to see Wagstaff back even if it's as a sub and more pace on the wing. Stephens or Hughes should be brought back into the team asap, I would even be inclined to put Green on the benck and bring him on as a sub. The defence did incredibly well under such pressure, particularly Solly and Wiggins. I could not see anything wrong with BWP's effort, didn't really form an impression of Danny Haynes as didn't see much of him but was surprised he came on place of a defensive minded midfielder.

I thought it was a bit triumphalist when the other team deserved better.

Haynes came on for Bradley didn't he? or are you saying we should have brought on a defensive minded midfielder? in which case we only had Russell on the bench and he was already having his shower, or are you saying that we should have had another defensive midfielder on the bench? rather than an attacking midfielder/forward in the shape of Haynes? in which case we would have not had any pace on the bench.

Why was Russell on the bench rather than Stephens? Was Stephens fit to be on the bench for Wendies? or did Stephens get an injury during the week in training?

    Stu,
From NU to me, it looked like that was from the training ground and Kermi was supposed to get on the end of it to head it across goal? I may be giving Green too much credit but it just looked like a training ground thing that went wrong <ok>

I guess for a home game CP preferred having more attacking options on the bench than 2 central midfielders.

The team was being over-riun 2nd half as Sheffield Utd piled on the pressure would've made sense to have played Hughes. Haynes is mainly used as a striker. The midfield was unable to retain possession and needed more 'steel' just like the blades had.

Just watch CP & then Di canio on the Football league show, (nice to have a little more than 30 seconds.) So glad the board ignored the call for the mad Italian & appointed cool, calm, Sir Chris. Match yesterday proves he is moulding a team for the future, bet he's already planning in the back of his mind the challenges of the Championship, it won't be easy. The next league up. But confident we can handle it. But first lets finish the job this season.
